It's clear, but just to be clear I disagree. This picture was clearly taken as part of a physics based render test not a promotions shot so I'd say you don't have enough to go off of to really say they don't fit. I also think  they fit the space planes to the extent that they need to, but there is no pleasing everyone.

If these had been just butts and nozzels like the vector or the thud the other half of the player base would be rioting right now demanding thier pipey rocket porn instead :P (personally I don't care either way on the tank butt vs. buttless debate)

As for kerbals they can be improved they are flexible. The planet's are an unreasonable expectation dirt and rocket parts are apples and oranges. The rest of the present non-spaceplane parts are irrelevant they are essentially slated for replacement.

That isn't my point either, I guess it's just really hard to convey. I like that they have actual engines, but everything about them as parts looks off to me, in a way that totally breaks what little immersion you get from KSP. Immersion is very important to me, and, at this stage of the game (no pun intended), without a complete game overhaul or significant changes to the parts, they completely jut out as different in a bad way.

That's good, because usually when someone says something like "Ripped" it implies "ripped off".  Thank you for clarifying.

And by all means, express your opinion.  And I'll express mine.  A dogpile on an artist, regardless of whether they work for squad or not, is just not cool.  And a lot of this thread became a dogpile.

And I definitely don't intend to be hating on Porkjet, I love all of his work, and those engines are beautiful, they just don't work with the rest of the game as they currently exist. The bigger issue is that it's hard to say specifically what the problem is. Part of it is definitely the current textures, and I think that it's a little bit too detailed as well.

It's the PBR, all the parts will eventually look like that if they move over to using it.

Pls, it's historic

Again, for the second time, I am not against the choice of placing an aspirator but its shape. I don't like the form it got on the Swivel, it brakes the lines of the nozzle.

To be more precise here is what I talk about :

Rtcv3wD.png

Even the RL-105 got this curve with the aspirator.

Now here is what I see with this new LV-T45 :

This aesthetic does not suit to me.

Look, the H-1 engine also has the inward bulging at the lower part of the nozzle, if not as accentuated. It's pretty obvious the model is supposed to resemble this engine.

Of course I see you don't like it, but I got quite used to this design when playing RO.^^

A lot ugly of spacetech really grows on you over time. Like the Space Shuttle >:D

Perhaps. I'm really just not entirely sure, though I would imagine that's playing a large role.

I think it's both the combination of a more detailed style and better lighting. That goes a huge way at changing how things look.

Seen actually quite similar stuff in cartoon looking games over the years, e.g. how the Ratchet and Clanks transitioned from PS2 to PS3. And KSP's old material is reeeeeeally low res.

That's not to say the style didn't change, more that it's often unavoidable. And every artist will have his own way to update things.

There seems to be an assumption the 5 engines shown in that one leaked picture are the sum total of the 'overhaul', which feels off (to me), like they'd ask Porkjet to do just 5 parts and not a cohesive overhaul?

Maybe I'm assuming to much to believe the Skipper, Mainsail, Poodle and fuel tanks etc have also been done, in addition to the few pictured (and perhaps some other spots filled, which the presence of the LVT-15 and LV-303 suggest).

I guess we'll find out the full extent pretty soon, I'm quite looking forward to seeing Porkjets new stuff in game (even if we need to side-load it) alongside everything else which is coming in 1.2.  With a side order of wondering whether they're using the existing shaders, or whether they've gotten the Standard Shader to work with KSP's camera hierarchy.

To me the H-1 aspirator part just got a small difference of curves with the nozzle and is still round.

At the opposite I see the Swivel aspirator mades with three different angles. Something like 30 degrees, 90 then and a rounded end.

Alas, if the concept of beauty and ugliness were not individual, fewer conflicts here would occured... a some of us who got bored by some philosophers would have more good times without these boring band like Hegel, Kant or even this dark prince of Nietzsche sometimes.

Gosh, it would be nice if I could roll a plane down the runway at greater than 35 m/sec...here's hoping!

Guy that made the engine must have been mental. Sane people don't build stuf like this!

For real tho, you'll get used to it surely. Or maybe Squad doesn't implement the engines like this at all. No clue what's going on there.

I think it was inspired by the Redstone rocket.  Probably because of Mercury and all that.

Good point, totally forgot that one. Probably was just so ugly I didn't even mentally save it under rocket engines.^^'

[snip] I'm saying spending hours nitpicking every pixel on a single image of parts that's not even a screenshot from the game itself is not just a colossal waste of time on the forum goers' side of it, but at BEST it'll just cause the artist to give up on Squad's side of things. THAT is what is not a great strategy.

Thanks Alshain, this picture perfectly summarize what I was thinking about.

Pretty true, after all a quote said the main difference between a genius and a madman is the genius is recognized. Here the team we made this wonder stays in the shadow. Apart for some rocketry addicts.

I hope so... honestly I still don't have use the Puff and Twin Boar more for their appearances than usefulness...

I should re-use this picture as the profile one.

Just remember. This update is free. You guys are poodleing about free stuff.

Squad should start charging a couple bucks and extra for the poodleing.

Poodling!? :sticktongue: LOL, why not "Dachsunding" or "Basset Hounding!" :D

A word the forum software apparently uses to replace a common vernacular English term for "complaining" which begins with a B and is also an infinitive verb conjugation of the technical term for a female canine :D

there's a Troy Pierce track which would become 25 poodles in that case :D.

Back on the rails - there's plenty here which is very exciting to me.  Kerbnet is particularly welcome to me as I've never really bothered finding out where the biomes were before now, but I will surely give it a science this time around!
