Anyone else watch Stranger things?

Oh, me and my wife binge watched it as soon as it came out.

Loved it. Great acting, loved the references, feels a lot like a lot of Stephen King novels and series. It's very dark, you actually feel afraid for the kids as they are actually in danger. The kids using D&D parlance to express themselves caught me, too. And don't get me started on the possibilities of that dark world.

I'm stopping now, I don't want to spoil for anyone reading this.

We watched the entire series in about four days...not sure that counts as binge watching. Netflix has announced THERE WILL BE A SECOND SEASON. What I liked about it was the accuracy of life and growing up during that time. Yes, the D&D, walkie-talkies, and the bicycles - and even the attitudes of the boys reminded me of my childhood...

And about that dark world... :D

Ah, yes. They are slightly older than me, but I could definitively relate to those, too :)

I'm not sure, actually! I'd like if that happened, but I wouldn't mind if they took it off in a new direction. Like I said, the dark opened up many possibilities, and there are lots of interesting characters and loose plotlines.

yeah they really captured the time nicely.  Bit before my time, but it echoed the style of movies I watched growing up.

In answer to @Spaceception's spoiler Q; yes!

Why does everyone keep saying that... am I really that old?

Haha, I don't suppose so. Anyway, the show happens in 83, I'm from 84. Like I said, they're a bit older than me, but I can still relate to a lot of that ambiance (plus, D&D is immortal)

Recommend this show to anyone, really. It's fantastic. Can't wait for the second season.

Also: It's not the Demogorgon, god...

Could be "the epic Demogorgon from that specific quest we played". Anyway, better than a Tarrasque...

I don't know man, Demogorgon is almost scarier than the Tarrasque. YMMV though... vOv

What I meant was, having "the" before Demogorgon is not as bad as calling the Tarrasque "a" Tarrasque.

Anyway, I suppose the dark world is a lot bigger and more diverse than what we are shown on the show, and "the" Demogorgon really is "a"... whathever.

Think of it, every time we see 11 during the experiments, we're shown her, her target, and everything else is black. I'm willing to believe there's all kinds of everything right there around her, but we/she only see what she's focusing on.

When she notices the thing, the thing notices her back. Notice how it doesn't really need her to hop around dimensions after the first time; I suppose it just never learned of our side before.

Watched it, felt like Goonies meets Stephen King, as others have said. Even the "Stranger Things" title screen felt like the same layout and font as the old King novels. It was interesting for me to binge watch it over a weekend but not enough to watch it again (yet). The "bad guy" design seemed uninspired, probably my only real negative critique of the series.

I think people are starting to realize that smart phones and tech can actually take away from the world created in a film, and I'd put money on seeing more period pieces in the future just because life was a bit more wild when the umbilicus was disconnected.

I think this is the first show I've actually been addicted too, I can't stop thinking about it! I keep thinking of alternate endings to the last episode, and what season 2 will be like.

GAH, JUST RELEASE SEASON 2 ALREADY.

I (Almost, but not quite) regret watching it before the series was finished, I really want season 2 to come out.

I've also heard a rumor it's coming out early next year, fingers crossed :D

I used to always wait for things to finish so I could watch it at my own pace, but these days the risk is too high that someone on some forum will make a post and then possible spoilers might appear :P (can't go anywhere near imgur during GoT seasons, it should be called spoilgur).  But at least the netflix way of releasing things, by catapulting entire seasons into your face at once is very pleasant.
