Does flat land even exist on Duna?

Well, I can't tell you much, I've only really gone to Duna with a crew what, six times? Only one recently. But the bottom of that one giant canyon seems to be flat. And some of the ice caps, although I would not advise landing at the poles, because it is harder to get back to orbit from there, and more importantly it hurts your eyes really really really bad. I only went there once, a quick hop with a plane to "rescue" a Kerbal for one of my mission reports, but that was more than enough. That hurt my eyes!

On the other hand, there is actually some extremely flat terrain right next to Duna's north pole. But it is only one terrain square - and it is literally smack dab in the center of the most nonflat area on Duna. Seriously. You though the Moholes were crazy? Duna's north pole has it beat easily.

Also, that one square of land is literally touching the exact north pole and two of its sides sort of end in ship deleting void... well, it's an interesting scientific target!

Other than what Steve says, it doesn't. After Duna circumnavigation, and visiting all the biomes, I can say that authoritatively.

Poles have long stretches of gentle slopes.

Midland Sea's floor is fairly even, not flat but the terrain rises/falls in some 10m tall dunes.

Eastern Canyon's southern end and Midland Canyon's northern end are fairly even. Don't even think about Midland Canyon's southern end, or Western Canyon.

Craters have reasonably flat bottoms, similar to Midland Sea.

Yup after the Duna 'improvements' the entire surface is just undulating hills of various heights sadly. The darker areas are the flattest but even they are undulating dunes. I managed to find a completely flat area for my Duna Direct landing site but it was only a few square meters in size..

Would be really cool if squad could release a major duststorm on Duna and "excavate" some rather large ancient "saltpans" or "lavafields", clearly, those expanses of ground could be rather even and suitable for some exotic Duna capable stock propeller plane miracles like this one for example:

I really think a great part of KSP players would appreciate this ... natural desaster...:D

Really wish the terrain had a little more variety. Let's see some cliffs and massifs.

Cliffs are hard to do in a height-mapped system like KSP's without placing objects specifically designed to resemble shear surfaces.  Otherwise you end up with lots of distorted textures and unnatural grading.  Can be done, but needs a lot of environmental modeling, and that amount of detail might be beyond Squad's budget.
