Obviously the Apollo 11 landing was almost as scripted as an reality tv show. Some for effect, some for safety and some for return like one of the fist actions was to scope up some dust an put in an pocket on the space suit. Reason was that if they had to abort they got some surface sample. Later on they become more free and explore interesting stuff they found.
