WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

T minus eight days and counting...

EDIT: Nope, sorry, eleven days. I forgot it was still January.

Which means I won't be able to watch unless I skip school...

EDIT2: You know you're desperate when you want to be sick enough to skip school for a rocket launch.

Im sick.

Here, catch this sneeze HATCHU

hope that works.

Anyways, for me its going to be just late enough that im awake i geuss. I wish it happend during school for me, so i can ask the people in control of the projector to show the launch in the lunchroom.

YAY!!! I’ll be back in the states by then (barely) and I’ll be able to watch!! Screw work, I’m watching history happen.

Also, @Ultimate Steve, I agree, you should absolutely be allowed to watch. This is something that should be promoted in an educational setting. I’m going to tell my gf that she should have her class watch.

The trouble with watching in class is timing. On an ISS launch with an instantaneous launch window, it’s gonna go at 11:30 (or whatever the time is), or not. FH is a long window, making it tricky.

All indication would be launch at the start of the window.

Launch time is (Tue, Feb 6) 13:30-16:30 EST (18:30-21:30 UTC)

Hmm... Wed, Feb 7 01:30-04:30 WIB/UTC+7 ? Way too late but I don't really have anything in the morning so...

... yeah, I'll just wait for the end result of whether it one-up N-1 in success rate

Yeah, if they scrub something like this it'll probably be a scrub for the day.

I'm just saying that they always target the start of the launch window, so that they'll have time for a retry if there is a small hold. So a long launch window isn't really a problem; you can expect them to attempt at the beginning.

In this particular case, 99 out of 100 reasons for a hold would probably be a scrub, so it is most probable that they either launch at the start of the launch window, or not at all.

Which is why they should simplify it for everyone and simply make it a national holiday. -_-

OK, daytime launch... I'm super curious if we'll be able to see it from here in the day.

FYI... we could see shuttle launches from here during the day, but it was because of the huge smoke trail it left... So far the smaller Space-X rockets don't leave nearly as big a smoke trail, so we can only see them at night.

Wouldn't that be cool though? For the people of Florida or maybe even the whole US to get a day off whenever a maiden flight of a heaviest in a little while rocket happends? If that happends, the demand of a new heavy lifter go up drastically, we may be able to colonize the entire Solar System in 10 years. sarcasm of course

The real problem is not the fact that the teacher's wouldn't let me, it's that the school blocks livestreams on YouTube and I don't have a phone. I'll either beg someone to let me borrow, or maybe I'll ask my dad to borrow his...

Also, by some miracle I'M GETTING SICK!!!! However, it's 1-2 weeks early. On one hand I don't want to be sick for two weeks, but if I can watch heavy...

I have 2 kids, one in 8th grade, one in 5th. If either one asks to watch the launch... I'd call them in sick myself. That or I'd say they have a dentist appointment or something, pick them up, watch launch on laptop, then have a good lunch, and drop them back at school.

While I don't remember missing any school, it was my grandfather that sat down and watched the Apollo launches and moon landings with me. In fact, I think that was the very first time I was allowed to eat in their living room, so I didn't have to miss anything!

I'm super glad to see all these launches being live-streamed on the internet now...

Good times... good times... :D

It’s not new, but the launch date has been officially confirmed:

In slightly related news, Elon Musk is also literally selling flame throwers:

Gotta love this guy. :D Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Bezos. Maybe this nut can give you a light.

Now, I wonder how many of these things I’d need to duct tape together to equal a Falcon Heavy...

From what I know about flamethrowers, they have pretty pathetic Isp.

Although coming from Musk, maybe these are more efficient.

5 or 6 days before my birthday, I appreciate the present as well.

Considering how their luck was and how SpaceX wants to wait until they are sure that everything is OK with the vehicle you might still have the launch closer to your birthday than me :D

Shhh - you'll give him ideas. The Boring Company Mk27 flamethrower. Why shoot one jet of flame when 27 would be way cooler?  Many Overpriced Fire Extinguishers  required.

And judging by that sales pitch, Squad should commission the Boring Company to write them some rocket part flavour text for KSP.
