These are contracts to develop new vehicles/technologies, not to launch payloads.

F9 b5 and FH are existing LVs, they don't need to be developed. Ditto Atlas, Delta IV H, etc.

The whole point of dev contracts is to increase the breadth of possible launch providers and capabilities.

Yeah, it’s not like SpaceX has an awesome new launch vehicle in the works that can use all the funding it can get. :)

Did they even ask for EELV funding for BFR? They didn't for FH. They might not want the meddling.

Another video from Blue. Really just a sales pitch for NS flights. What we need is a date for crew, and a price tag for customers, lol.

Have they adjusted their payload yet? I have been under the impression that with the switch to hydrolox upper stage that they would see a pretty good bump in payload.

The stats seem the same, but I'd bet they are sandbagging the value right now to GEO.

This

And while it'd be nice for SpaceX to get some dough for the BFR, it might be better to stay mostly private (I say mostly, since the Air-force did partially fund some Raptor development)

But we're getting off topic :P

I'd really like to see more of their plans for New Glenn, I know Blue Moon is a part of it, but it could do a lot. Is there any news on plans to get it man-rated? I don't know if they plan to take part in ISS resupply or anything, but they would be in a good position to help with the DSG.

Favorite part of the article :D

As the capsule comes off the ground, someone spots a remarkable thing: a living creature underneath the capsule. A horned lizard, frozen in confusion, has its mouth agape as if to say, “What the love?!” The reptile had been minding its own business, thinking whatever thoughts a sunbather might have on a hot July day, when an object from outer space landed on it. Bezos’ laugh booms from here to the Diablos.

In addition to skipping the flight attendant, looks like they’re saving some mass by going with screens instead of windows. Might test passengers’ breath-holding ability but at least it won’t get stuffy inside on those hot Texas days.

What has always struck me is that they encourage people to get out of their seats and float around in New Shepard -- but boy oh boy you better get back into your seat pretty damn quickly when it's time.

If I was paying a quarter of a million dollars to go into space, I would want to float around a bit. I can almost guarantee that most people agree with that sentiment!

Although I agree with you, it is crucially important to inform the passengers of when they should get back in. If one of the seats broke in flight, that would be probably the most important game of musical chairs in the history of the world.
