First take the cost of the Craft, then multiple by several factors.  Each factor os based off of things that make it harder to launch/prepare the rocket.  These include various things like having toxic fuel or being man rated or having cryogenic fuel.  Then multiply by a factor based on the level of the launching pad.

You will want to buy and upgrade several pads so that you can use the lowest pad level for the craft you are launching.

Craft rollout costs will also dramaticly be higher if you do not Tool components.

Use the Green maintecost.png button to see tooling, and in VAB show a list of untooled parts on teh craft.

Also: Problems with TestFlight

I just had three consecutive failures on my AJ10-137 engine. It is not very reliable. (If I read correctly 92% ignition.) But still: Three times in a row seems to be a problem.

Any known bugs with Testflight and RP1? - I am rush building my rockets. Is that reducing their quality?

Question 1 Yes in https://github.com/KSP-RO/RP-0/blob/Developmental/GameData/RP-0/KCT_Presets/RP0_KCTPresets.cfg

Question 2 NO, but Ignition failures are now enabled and reduced ignition probabilities from certain dynamic pressure reasons.  Not sure how the formulas work.  Also Ullage instability is very common when one high TWR engine stops in atmospheric flight leading to negative G's on the craft and fuel not at pumps.  Hopefully Awangs .dll changes are integrated so an indicator of ullage state can coexist with TF engine failure state.  Hot Starting the engine 1-3 seconds before the stage before runs out is a common solution. I tend to prefer to use RCS ullage turning on with the separator/inter-stage.

Thanks Born, that's helpful. I still have some doubts about the many ignition failures I have (and they are not ullage related), but I'll look further into that. Maybe I am just unlucky. 

Now I have the problem that I cannot choose kerbals when launching rockets from KCT/VAB. clicking on "fill", "autofill" etc. Doesn't have an effect. Only when selecting "autohire" it works. But then each time a new kerbal is hired. :(.

Any ideas?

Hello all! I'm completely new to this forum so let me know if I'm either posting this in the wrong place or if there already exists the thing I'm looking for.

I've been trying for a couple of days to get RP0 to work on my laptop, and even after following our lord and savior Scott Manley's instructions (CKAN install w/ principia and an older scatterer), I found that not only does scatterer not work, I may be having other bugs that seriously hinder my progress.  So what I ask for is this: What date was every single mod RP0 is dependant upon well and truly compatible? Or I guess what I'm asking is, how do I get a "pure install" so to speak, of RP0 so I know the mods aren't the issue?

Hi @westleyTwain!

If you want to install visual mods try the install guide from Real Solar System Visual Enhancements rather than CKAN. There are different working versions of Scatterer, EVE, Kopernicus, and Module Manager depending on your version of KSP. 

If you want a "pure"  version of RP-0 using CKAN, have a clean install of KSP 1.2.2 and just select Realistic Progression Zero from CKAN. Then you will be prompted for your choice of texture size, choose the size you want and press Continue. Then you'll return to the list of mods, from there you should press Apply Changes (green checkmark). This will bring you a list of mods that are dependencies of RP-0, click Apply. Then you will get a list of recommended mods, here you can choose what recommended mods you want to install, if you want a bare bones RP-0 (not really recommended, RP-0 will not be much fun without some of these mods), then only accept the required mods (Deselect all recommended mods), and press continue. This will install RP-0 with only the required mods.

Then you can test RP-0 and the required mods to see if they work.

If the mods work fine, then you can install other mods one by one to find out which mods will break your game.

trying to play with RP-1 pre-release,unlocked the x-."nosecone cockpit...but they cant be crewed.... anyone know the issue?

edit: turns out it's the new training! Proficiency and mission train are required! Also if anyone is struggling to pass "break sound barrier" mission with starting tech let me know, workable goblin posted a Well made area ruled jet long ago that I edited/tweaked for "RP-1". I'll share craft file if anyone needs it.

RSSVE and Scatterer are very touchy about version. go to the Github releases for each read the release requirements

Unfortunately RP0 is rarely if ever doable completely on CKAN

The Best way to get a working install is to add a few mods at a time until you break it. or it works.

Start with working up to RSS, then add requirements for RO, then RO and then requirements for RP0 and lastly RP0 and Principia.

Maybe we will have a 1.3.1 releases soon or maybe straight to 1.4 .sigh

@Bornholio@JonGustav thank you both! I found that my problem was largely due to my laptop not being able to handle scatterer, so I have it running smoothly under just the ckan install from a few days ago.

I tried RSSVE-Lite instead (led there by JonGustav's link to RSSVE), and that works loads better, despite the occasional purely cosmetic issue with either RSSVE-Lite or EVE, I'm not sure which.

But yeah, I was lucky enough to have a fully-functional ckan install, excepting RSSVE-Lite, and I will definitly follow Bornholio's advice in the future.

1.3.1 update lately for RP1, Wild Blue Tools 1.19 was not working, 1.41 does appear to and give the Crew Science portion to the orbital pods.

i accidentally updated some mods via ckan, now my 1.3.1 RP1 install broke, can anyone share a working game data folder from a working RP1 save, minus the squad folder ofcourse?

@Bornholio you should talk to @winged and @NathanKell to see how just how "complete full of a mod list you guys can suggest for RP1, using winged's "support mod list and the mods from your install I've never had such a nice install of RP-0/RP-1.

 

Also i promised that mach 1 starting tech jet... so here it is:

With the edits to it, it can now cruise at 17KM at 390m/sec and if done just right pop up over 20km for a few seconds (but it loses control fast over 18km), it can hit over 450m/sec in a 5 degree dive if your start dive at 17km down to 9km. It can fly well with about 1 to 2 hours worth of fuel onboard

If anyone has a better starting jet i'm HUNGRY for it, please let me see it

Can you elaborate further on this dynamic pressure failure mechanism? I've turned test flight off in my custom RP1-extended (RP1 all the way to warp drives!) campaign since 100% of my second stages were failing to ignite, even 5+ seconds before 1st stage burnout.

I have a similar problem sometimes. If it shows just one kerbal and won't let you add another, remove that one kerbal and then everything will start working correctly again. It seems to happen repeatably if I previously tried to launch while all of my kerbals were still on leave.

Does this mean that the RP-0 developers are planning to compile the next version of RP-0 for 1.4? I think the Mission Builder that came with Making History would make for some interesting gameplay. :)

I doubt RP-0/RP1 will include/require making history as that will lock it behind a dlc caused paywall. It should come out with full release for 1.3.x first as most of that work (mod support) is already done. DLC requirements would stop as many people as possible from enjoying rp-0/to-1so a bad idea in my opinion

Besides that, the Mission Builder:

  • Does not directly provide anything useful for the RO/RP-0 suite of mods.
  • Cannot be integrated with the Sandbox/Career modes.

(I guess that someone could create sample missions that feature specific parts/launch configurations as a means to allow a new RSS/RO/RP-0 player understand what is different from stock, since it is easier to make than a scenario)

Yeah, I think that it's important to not require the DLC. It should be completely self-contained in the "stock game", and independent from any DLC. But I thought it would be nice to include support for the DLC for those who want to create missions for RP-0. (I didn't know it was not compatible with Sandbox or Career mode. Thank you, @Phineas Freak! :))  

If support for Sandbox and Career mode gets added to Making History, then I can imagine that missions that recreate historical real missions would be really fun. Imagine flying a mission based on Apollo 13, with the failure of the service module baked into the mission. :cool:

Hi Omnipius, I was wondering whether this might be related to the names of the Kerbals. Was the one special one with the original name?

are fresh installs of dev rp-1 still possible using golden spreadsheet? i reformatted PC due to a small (huge) issue with windows 10... now i just cant get the "base" install of rss/ro/rp-1 on ksp 1.3.1 to work from golden spreadsheet (plane cockpits dont have "not pressurized" flag, tech   tree is abit messedup, taerobee stuff in wrong nodes ect)...am i becoming more of a noob? Any one willing to help me with this issue and assist me in getting a base RP-1 install that works as intended, i would really be thankful

RO Dev and Master had quite a few updates lately, Most of RP-0's PR's are knocked out and a lot of stuff is stable.  Still a good chance there will be a 1.3.1 release sometime soon(tm) but 1.4 mods are marching along. Golden Spreadsheet Mk 1.4 (Simplified)  38 total installed mods in my work towards RP-0 install

 

@Aazard post an output_log.txt or KSP log file in a place like dropbox.  Kindly please  one that only includes up to a load screen or at worst just loaded to KSC.  File gleaning 30+MB gets old fast.
