I tried a different JNSQ install with KEI in the modlist, which is also a science save, and the window doesn't pop up like this in that modlist.  So I guess that's good news since it's likely some interaction between mods or something broken in my install and not something that really needs your attention.

However, since you asked, here is a link to the player.log. Not sure how helpful it will be, I did a quick ctrl-f for KEI and don't see anything that stands out to me as an error, but maybe something will jump out at you if for some reason you're really interested in hunting down whatever weird interaction is causing this bug.   I'm not asking you to do that though, diagnosing a minor annoyance that is likely the result of some unique combination of mods and doesn't affect the actual functionality of the mod or the overall install in some game breaking way is completely unnecessary.   I appreciate that you were willing to look into it but that sounds like a wild goose chase to me and I'm sure you have enough on your plate.

I've reviewed the log file again, nothing jumps out.

However, I wonder what would happen if you started a new game in that save.  Could you try that?

Thanks, this is really great!

 

Would be cool if there was a button to remove those science points again. I just don't want to start my campaign with 1000 points, just remove those microbiomes from the list.

You might have selected light mode. Then no toolbar is supposed to show up.

Can't find a couple mods that you say should be in CKAN

(1) KEI - Kerbin Environmental Institute
(2) KCT - Kerbal Construction Time??

I am running ksp 1.12.3 and ckan 2.1.0 v1.34.4

Just now checked and both show up fine for me using CKAN v1.34.4 (not sure what the 2.1.0 number you mention is). Granted I didn't try actually installing them (I've used KEI in the past, but not right now), but they show up in CKAN's mod list. At first I thought perhaps you were looking only at mods explicitly listed as compatible, but these pass that test, so presumably that's not it. Just in case, do look in CKAN's list of all mods. Perhaps force CKAN to refresh?

I'm having the same problem.  Just installed.  KSP version 1.12.5.3190 (career mode), CKAN v1.34.4.  Looked around to see if there are logs.  MMPatch.log and ModuleManager.log don't show any actual errors about KEI, and the KEI log and Button Manager log are empty.  I don't remember seeing any reference to a "light mode".  I have tried removing it and reinstalling, with no change.

EDIT: I should also add, I do have the dependencies installed...

One thing to check is the difficulty settings in game  for KEI. It has some options to set it at various levels of functionality and, if I remember right, one of those options is to turn it off entirely.

To be fair, the KSC science is probably necessary for 10% science games.
