Can we get Gears?

You can make stock bearings.  And you might be able to do wing/structural parts to act as teeth....   But i believe the stock bearings are actually separate from the main craft, so the impacts of the teeth may cause collisions. 

One of the issues may be that parts on the same vessel can clip through each other (like a solar panel rotating through a poorly placed com dish), so I don't see a stock solution.   As Mark said, addons will probably be the route.

Oh I'm all too aware you can make bearings in stock, I'm somewhat of a bearing specialist (same username on kerbalx.com). That's why I was hoping to get some gear parts so that I (and other stock machina creators) could create even more complex and wonderful things that anyone could use without having to have to install any mods etc.

The stock gears would be used on separate vehicles.   See EJ_SA's Twitch channel.  I completely see why the OP would want this, but it stems from the complexity of craft EJ and others come up with.  It would be a very niche thing for the stock game.

I don't think so... Krakentech gained a lot of attention recently... It's a completely new way to play KSP.
A new pack of parts specific created to be used for Krakentech and, if possible, some tweaks on the physics simulation to make those contraptions work a bit more smooth, will give KSP a new life...
Krakentech could probably be the next DLC theme... :P

I've made multiple gearboxes in the past. They all work but we all have the 50 rad/s hard limit. Basically it's the physics engine currently unable to calculate all collider interactions in real time. All krakentech is named krakentech because of this limitation. Our self-developed engines have a max rpm of 477. This is fine for the diesel of a ship but nothing else.

We started development of this stuff years ago in anticipation of the continuation of Moore's law, the promise of ever increasing single core CPU performance.

 

Throw some rocks at Intel and AMD.

Big rocks.

Like huge.
