Mars visible right now! (Aug 3rd, 2018, 1am PDT, California)

If anyone else is awake right now and in a good viewing location, go outside and look south. See that bright red dot? That's Mars. If I had a good enough camera I'd take a picture, but alas I'm stuck with the old Mk1 Eyeball.

I live a few degrees south of the Equator, Mars has always been visible when it does 

But I live in UTC+7, so still a sunny afternoon now !

At 28N, 18W, visible planets' situation after sunset is Venus in the West, followed by a bright shining prominent Jupiter, a pale Saturn right in the Milky Way and Mars rises in the East.

Vesta is between Saturn and Jupiter as well, it should be visible from most locations with a small telescope.

For most of July I saw Mars as I left for work at 4am. But I think now it has set before I leave. Skies have been pretty hazy too lately

I might be late to the party on this, lol. Last night I was taking out the garbage and happened to see it. I thought it might be Mars, which is when I looked it up and then posted this.

I saw Mars during the Lunar Eclipse. It was right next to the Moon.

I looked at it with my telescope but it wasn't powerfull enough to see much in detail

I looked at it during the eclipse too. Had no telescope around, so had to use binoculars. No details, obviously, but it was definitely red.
