What's Your Story?

In fiction, it has been said that the basic story has a few variations that are repeated again and again.

The main interest the viewer/reader has is to see how matters change and who wins/loses and how.

1. Man vs man.

2. Man vs self.

3. Man vs environment.

4. Man vs society.

5. Man vs beast.

6. Man vs God/a godlike being or beings.

 

Which one has featured in your own life story the most? Can be more more than one.

You can only guess mine. If you guess correctly, I will let you know.

Hmm, interesting question. I've got a bit of Man Vs. Self going on in this Step, but I foresee a fair bit of Man Vs. Society in my future, paired closely with Man Vs. Environment (particularly, a very red and dusty environment, if you catch my meaning), all for a purpose that I think veers towards Man Vs. God but I cannot really know that. I don't have much Man Vs. Man or Man Vs. Beast, and I expect it to stay that way.

In scifi man vs man is what humans vs aliens is usually. Except when their tech is VERY high end, then it becomes man vs a godlike being or beings.

In the average human's life, if he/she lives long enough they will face all six versus scenarios sooner or later.

 

Among other things we can hope for individually is this, to quote the show Andromeda:

"When we die, let it be as better men than we were, or no worse than we feared."

Since all 3 factors are what make a man VS car scenario likely.

 

Society because society has put car rules in place that defying is not worth the trouble, so you comply, even though difficult at times. Self because who knows if you hate your car but fix it anyway because maybe you're saving up for a new one?  Environment vs car needs no introduction though.

Right there with you. If I had a theme song to do describe my life long battle with this it would be this song. Although in my case, the real reason is often fear of failing, which causes me to 'hug' myself by doing whatever comforts me instead. That said, I wish and hope to come off victorious in my battle, as the song, at least as it applies to me, would suggest. What's your song?
