Questions regarding making planets with Kopernicus

Recommended Posts

Background:

I have made several attempts to make planets with Kopernicus, some of them being a failure, others being successful. In this case, I made a habitable super-Kerbin called "Hallow". As of now, its radius is 1000 km with an extremely thick atmosphere capping off at 100 km above sea level. For external textures I modified an 8k map of Mars to make an oceanic color map, a height map and a normal map all using GIMP and its normal map and height map plugins. The config itself uses data from Beyond Home by @Gameslinx and The World Beyond by @TheProtagonists combined with basic data from Kopernicus Examples in order to make a proper config file The PQSMods section has some data from Beyond Home's Rhode, but adjusted to fit the right directory.  It also has a HeightColorMap parser, assigning different shades of yellow, light khaki and white to a specific terrain height. My copy of KSP 1.8.1 loads properly without any issue, and I check Hallow in the Tracking Station to find it loading properly and the surface is fine except it's completely blue. Rebuilding the ScaledSpace textures via KittopiaTech fixed this, giving it its proper surface. However, I wanted a bit more, which is why I have come here to ask several questions:

1. How do you properly make an ocean planet that initially loads looking like it should?

2. What effect the parameters of ScaledSpace and PQSMods do?

3. How do you increase the altitude of ScaledSpace's stock atmospheric rim (so the stock atmosphere looks thicker and taller)

4. How do you increase the resolution of a planet's surface like in Beyond Home? (The surface of planets like Rhode, Scaythe, Ash and Armstrong look incredibly detailed, how do you do that?)

And just so this topic doesn't go unnoticed, I'm tagging other great mod makers and developers here; paging @Galileo, @Sigma88, @Poodmund and @The White Guardian.

If there are any mistakes or anything vague, please inform me. Thanks!
