ChanceTHEBOSSXD
Will KSP 2 be free for people with an existing version of KSP and all it's DLC's? I think this would encourage people to buys both games and it gives long time KSP Vets a nice gift for their loyalty, thanks for a great game! Guest
It has been replied a thousand times, nope. KSP 2 is a new game from a different studio.

If one gets version 2 free, why would that encourage you to buy it? Call me old-fashioned, but I think that if anything, getting it free will encourage people to not buy it. razark
I bought a pizza last month, and when I ordered one tonight from a different pizza place, they expected me to actually pay for it! Don't these people know anything about loyalty?!? Damn these employees that actually expect a paycheck! I think they might just be in it for the money, not for the love of giving me free stuff! Popestar
To be honest, I think some form of a loyalty reward isn't out of the question. A single part, or a small mod to rename one of the buildings after yourself. Nothing extravagant, nothing too costly, certainly nothing worth as much as the entire game itself. Regardless, I'm gonna purchase this for my XBox One S when it drops next year. I have zero qualms about forking over the $60 (or whatever it happens to be) for the initial game, and then purchasing whatever DLC they make available. That's a small price to pay for the thousands - yes, I said THOUSANDS - of hours I will spend playing this title.
Meecrob
Careful guys, I heard a rumour the devs push the release date back a month every time someone asks this question. Game has been done for a while, but you won't shut up about free stuff.

How would giving one free to owners of the other encourage us to buy both? As a long standing owner of KSP I don't feel any entitlement to a discount or freebie. If they do I'll take it, but I honestly hope they don't offer.
Brofessional
It's a separate game and thus is not part of the "all future updates for free" thing that early adopters of KSP1 got. (Which we should be grateful for because most companies would not have honored that with regards to expansion packs.) It's not uncommon for publishers to offer a 5-10% discount for owners of the previous game when releasing a sequel, but you should consider that a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation. AlamoVampire
Ive been around since 0.21 hit steam. Do I as a 7 year vet of KSP expect a discount? Nope. Will I refuse it if offered? Nope, of course not. What do I expect as a 7 year KSP vet? I expect a game that will give me enjoyment and provide a way for me to burn time on new adventures. Will KSP2 meet my expectations? Time will tell, and I am happy to find out! 205410082020
Cyne
Even though I'm not a veteran, if I was offered KSP2 for free I would probably still end up buying it anyways at some point* *If I had the money

I made sound like a broken record but that’s because they really got the early access right — System Era. In Astroneer, early joiners got a special space suit as a reward. Your suggestion for something similar in KSP2 is an excellent idea.
