Aerobatics challenge

Recommended Posts

The challenge is simple, fly an aircraft of your own design through the R&D tunnel without damaging your aircraft. You can prove your feat of engineering and piloting finess through either a video or a series of screenshots, before during and after. The tunnel is around 10 meters wide and 7 meters tall, it would be recommended construct your aircraft accordingly. The leaderboards will be split into the speed of the aircraft through the tunnel and the length of the aircraft passing through the tunnel.

Rules;

  • Your aircraft has to enter and exit the tunnel unscathed
  • No parts mod
  • DLC allowed
  • Non Parts mods are allowed, e.g Kerbal engineer

My submission. Craft is a variant of my submission for the Windrider challenge.

Speed inside the tunnel: 97.4 m/s.

Craft size: 2.9 m long, 2.5 m wide, 1.0 m tall.

Bonus clip (probably a gatecrasher entry as this is not a craft):

Speed through tunnel: 35.9 m/s

craft speed ~70 m/s in tunnel

craft size 13.7m long, 21m wide, 3m tall.

Used this to test my new seaplane seaplane transport. took a full afternoon to get down, but running in 1st person made it easier

Spoiler

Ok so the first one was apparently not acceptable.

Today I happened on my Kerman Flyer, through another thread, and found that in one of the videos I flew it through the tunnel too. So, attempt two, this time hopefully within the challenge parameters?

TL;DW: the actual barnstorming happens around the 1m15-1m25 mark.

Flyer dimensions are 13.68 x 4.72 x 11.42 m, last one being the length. Even though it'd make the top spot as is, I feel like this entry should compete for the widest plane to make it through the tunnel. :D Also, proof that the tunnel is a bit wider than 10 m; I'd say more like 20-25 m.

Speed: 46.7 m/s.

Also spoilered since it also was the wrong tunnel.

I think the OP wants you to fly through the other tunnel. From the OP:

The tunnel that you flew through is much bigger than that.

Seeing as I previously entered two invalid entries to this challenge, and I just yesterday recorded some footage that would be valid, a better-late-than-never entry:

The SWiS MicroJet 1A4, measuring 3.3 m long, 3.2 m wide, 1.8 m tall, flying through the R&D tunnel at 168.3 m/s, landing intact after some more aerobatics.

Please disregard anything past the first minute, unless you want to see me land the plane intact, plus some other non-relevant footage. The video wasn't purpose-made for this challenge.
