An Interesting Statistic…

I played/recognized plenty. About half from each screenshot. Some are newer, some older, many well received by players and critics.

Big publisher and large budget does not guarantee a successful release or high player counts. So I don't get what it's trying to prove. And to whom.

For example Marvel Avengers or KSP2

This is an interesting statistic, someone writes in this thread. Should there be a grand design?

Peak interest @ $50 a pop says they'll come back when the updates address their main issues.

Peak interest @ EA launch, before having a decade to woo players like KSP did... wow. WOW!

I am so glad to see so much interest in the game. Whether the money was refunded or not.

My broski, KSP1 launched in 2010, when steam had a maximum of 2,5 million users. KSP2 launched in 2023, now that steam has more than 10 times the userbase from ten years ago.

Thus, KSP2 achieved the following:

  1. Got 20% more peak players on a market that's 10 times bigger. Thus, interest normalized against possible market is actually magnitudes lower.
  2. On a market 10 times bigger, it also failed to surpass the sales of the original.
  3. In the span of 2 months back in 2013, KSP1 managed to retain a concurrent playerbase of more than 4k players. Meanwhile KSP2, on a market 10 times bigger, in the span of 2 months barely manages a 3 digit playerbase.

The EA launch was a complete failure from a business standpoint. I understand being hopeful, happy the game is out, and being positive that you'll get more content and what not. [snip]
