How does the stock Ground Anchor compare to other modded methods (KAS/USI ground tether) ?

Hi,

I never really played with the stock Ground Anchor. Wanted to have some feedback on it, if people have used it on surface bases, and to know how well or not it behave.

Also ideally how it'd compare to other methods of anchoring to the ground, like KAS, or USI ground tether for instance.

Two words: "horribly buggy". Sometimes it teleports above the ground and most of the time it completely messes your ship (see here for an example)

I'll test it too, but my guess is I'll stick to what works already.

The stock ground anchor works ok for me.  These carports have been there for years and are there to keep the rovers from exploding.

SAME! I wish I could help you with your question, but I don't know, mostly because Private Division still haven't updated KSP on console to 1.12, despite the promise that both 1.11 and 1.12 would release before the end of last year. So yeah, I don't know how the ground anchor is... sounds amazing though, it's a shame that @Ghostii_Space and @Dakota, as well as PD customer support, refuse to give even the most basic of transparency to the community. Maybe one day I'll know what the ground anchor is like, but I guess I'm losing hope at this point. Guess one doesn't need hope if they're stubborn enough.

I don't know about the mods, but the stock one can't be placed by a Kerbal underwater, which was quite a disappointment for me.

I had to place it on solid ground and text edit it underwater.

So much for an underwater sub fueling/ballasting station - transfer too much stuff out of it, and it floats up, no sea anchoring.

Also would be useful for floating bases with a seafloor connection and scatterer oceans that make waves actually move your craft up and down if floating
