Reverse engines on spacecraft?

so i want to add some thrusters on a rescue craft i built facing the other direction of main thrusters so i dont have to flip me vehicle on approach allowing me to approach quicker and easier. Anyone got any tips on that or if it can even me done?

i figure a way out i can bind toggle on both engines to 1 swapping which one is on...if anyones got any better ideas lmk

It's possible but terribly wasteful because you're carrying twice as many engines as you need and the ones which are not running are dead weight and reduce your fuel efficiency. If you don't mind that, the only hazard is that other ship parts might block the thrust or be damaged by the heat. You'll need to place them so they are not obstructed, perhaps by sticking them on struts sticking out to the sides or the like.

additionally, having thrusters on the front will not remove the need to flip the vehicle. no way the direction you'll have to burn will be aligned with your vehicle.
