[WIP] Old school NASA-style Probe Control Room IVA

Retro NASA style Probe Control Room IVA
 

Hi, I've been working on a complete remake of the PCR IVA interior, by giving it a retro style flavour, for the early days a Kerbal space exploration, when we didn't access to all those fancy MFD screens and such... :) 
 

  • - Current todo :

- Better KOS/KPM page, this one is just copied for KPM, and isn't done yet
- CRTs big selector knobs : make them not slaved between each other if possible
- Try to fix ASET solar panel deployed Alarm indicator
- Refine Interior decorations
- 1.0 release ?
- Investigate RPM Ext cam wankyness
- Poke at Vulkan's work on "MAS-sifying" PCRIVAPLUS and maybe incorporate his work if he's willing to contribute ! Or try to do the same later (ASET to MAS patchs/etc)
- later : make a high tech version of PCR IVA, with fancy screens, MFD, etc. The same taste as KSA IVA upgrades, but more advanced.
- For that, figure out why I can't get MAS to work in PCR : MAS not working properly with Probe Control Room · Issue #372 · MOARdV/AvionicsSystems (github.com)

- KOSPropMonitor : Adds KPM pages integration to the CRTs.

  • Known issues

- ASET FDAI GUID MOD (navball vector selector) has sometime the animation not showing ingame, but the prop still works. Save/reload can fix.

- ASET ARRT (alt/alt rate tape meter) doesn't work consistently. Save/reload can fix.

- Random textures glitches,  see : https://github.com/JonnyOThan/RasterPropMonitor/issues/112

          Fix for now : rename the extension or delete PropBatching.cfg, in Gamedata/JSI/RasterPropMonitor/        Be aware, this could worsen the performances.

I've been said by Jonny that sadly, the switches might be too small for VR. Meaning you would flip mulitple of them at the same time, since your KerbalVR fingers are too big ^^

He told me so when I was almost done, so we'll see, maybe I'll make a simpler variant of this, with bigger props for VR, but take this info with a good rock of salt haha

Progress on the ManeuverPlanner props by Mirage < 3
Changed the layout/behavior to reduce number of props. Added reset button. Changed everything to retro push buttons, so it integrates well in retro IVAs. Next is making the time display in ydhms, instead of s, and later maybe integrating this on a custom page of the ASET DSKY, so you won't need the 4 displays anymore...!

Hello, I've experienced a bug  that appear on the two latest versions (didn't check earlier ones)

There is no big CRT's  and one small one near the mechjeb interface(also shows rpm error (If anyone knows how to fix it, I'd be more than thankful)) (might be my error becasue on a different download it worked)

Do you have all dependencies installed ? Could you provide your ksp.log ? It's not impossible I messed something up, but I tested it once before publishing it...

Oh yeah it was totally one of the dependencies, thank you! Great mod once again (I don't want to be annoying but are you maybe planning on making a IVA replacement for the stock capsules? (especially the mk1-3))

Hi ! Ok glad it works : )
For now, I'd want to finish this and the external command seat IVA I'm working on first. Then I have other IVA projects too planned^^ But why not ! (note that there are already nice IVAs for stock (Starilex/warbirds/KSA, if you're looking in the retro style for the mk1-3 MAS has one, Max-ksp IVA too IIRC).

Thanks for the IVA work, you're single handedly keeping me from playing KSP2 (not really) with this and your IVA career series. 

Is there plans for KOS integration in the future? I know RPM already has integration with KOS through kOSPropMonitor, would it be difficult? 

I feel like KOS actually adds a lot to a IVA career. Writing scripts that automate certain functions, or scripts that only control certain parameters while a pilot can control another would be cool. For example, the Apollo lunar landing computer only allowed for pilots to adjust the spacecrafts yaw (correct me if I'm wrong) while the computer pretty much handled everything else!

That's totally planned and in my "very-soon" todo list ! It would be indeed very useful, since KOS can provide infos and actions currently lacking in the current state of RPM for instance.

I'd need to poke at how it's integrated in RPM, and most likely create a custom page for the current CRTs to have a KOS page...

I'll most likely post updates about it in this thread : )

PCRIVA astrogrator page buttons fixed : up/dwn        ent: create node        ESC: timewarp to node      Home: clear created node
Added basic support for KPM/KOS : KPM pages added to CRT 1 and 3 (desks, wall right)
CRTs : made consistent order of pages/changed the custom pages for each one
CRTs selector knobs : add proper text labels and fix backlights
CRT 3 (wall right) : re arranged the buttons properly to be the same asCRT 2 (wall left)

New PCR IVA PLUS update : 0.9.1 :
- Add seat UP/DOWN props for all stations, so the camera can move down from the default position, allowing for better visibility at both the wall screens and stations panels/instruments at the same time.
- Various prop alignment fixes / cleanup.
