Add option to snap to time warp speed rather than slowly ramping up to it

Recommended Posts

I'm personally not fond of how when going up and down time warp settings, it slowly ramps up or down to the target time warp. I find that makes it difficult to judge just how fast it's going to be going and by the time I've realized it's way too fast, I've already gone too far. Vs if it just snapped to full speed right away, I could see what that speed looks like and quickly hotkey it back.

I'm sure this is a personal preference thing, but I'd really like an options setting to disable that ramp and just make it snap.

Making it so that time warp ramps UP gradually is harmless.

But when I hit "/" to exit time warp, I want it crash down to 1x speed IMMEDIATELY so that I can get myself out of trouble.

I hate it when I overshoot Pe for a capture burn (or some similar mistake) just because I didn't exit time warp quick enough.

Getting from higher time warp down to 1x immediately (takes some extra steps, but it works):

  • Keep your mouse pointer over the Pause Time button
  • Pause time at the moment you want to go immediately to 1x
  • Select 1x speed with your mouse, while time is still paused
  • Un-pause time - you are now at 1x

Agreed! It's also really annoying you try and go down to 1x, but it just keeps jumping between paused and x2. I'd also like an easy physics warp again (unless I'm stupid) there isn't a hotkey to do something like that.

I don't mind the ramp up / ramp down for an auto-warp to point, but for manual I feel it should be just that- manual, complete, snap control.

WOW! This is an awesome trick.

It also fixes quite a lot of glitches when exiting time warp.

Example: my landers often fly up into the air (at 5m/s, and 45° angle) when I switch from 2x to 1x warp. Some really bad effect when physics kicks in on the legs.

But when I use your trick to exit warp, the bug doesn't happen.

So thank you, that's a super-useful trick to have in my pocket for situations.
