spacegamer7
yes, i know it's been, what, 5 years? but today i've been on a search to find an available copy and as far as i got was the github download page which turned out to be terminated, and someone in the universe has to have a copy of the mod. so uh yeah i'll check in next month (also KSS as in kerbal star systems if you didn't catch on)
HebaruSan
As the author explained here, it was taken down and replaced by Galaxies Unbound: As the author then explained here, Galaxies Unbound itself was taken down and is planned to be replaced by Kerbal Star Systems 2: Kerbal Star Systems 2 has a thread here, but as yet there is no download: So going by official channels, nothing is currently available to download, but there is an archived copy of Galaxies Unbound here that I think some people have been using: https://archive.org/details/kspckanmods?tab=collection&query=galaxies+unbound&sort=-publicdate

HebaruSan
I think the hard lesson of experience here is that if you're looking forward to KSS2, then once it is out, it would be wise to make your own backup copies of it before it also becomes unavailable. 37 minutes ago, StarCrusher96 said: the archived version will be taken down soon. If so, could you please tell me whom, so I can make sure it's someone who can actually follow through? Side note, the license for GU is: ... and the archived files are attributed to you, non-commercial, and unmodified from the originals. May I ask what you feel is objectionable about them? I see, good to know. It'll be interesting to see whether they do any follow-up to check whether the claim is valid. If they go by the license, they may decide to refuse the request. If that happens, let us know and we can use @techman83's API key to delete them. I guess this also puts fans of GU on notice to grab those archived versions while they still can! Hi, we have found out that this would apparently count as a strike against @techman83's archive.org account, which seems a bit unfair since the upload was done in compliance with the license, which allows mirroring. FYI that we may have to appeal the decision to minimize the risk of having some things shut down, and on its face the prospects look in our favor once the archive.org administrators see the license. In the future, could you please contact us instead of going to the archive.org admins? That way we could take care of it without all this unnecessary trouble. StarCrusher96
Archive.org agreed upon immediate removal as my claim was legal and most certainly valid. I will ask kindly to not upload any of my content on other sites behind my back. Edited May 15 by StarCrusher96

There are exceptions when it comes to redistribution or mirroring 'against the wishes of the creator'.

I wouldn't read too much into that. They probably have a policy to agree to all takedown requests and allow the uploading party to counter-claim when appropriate. The notification that @techman83received specified how to file a counter-claim in such casees. 4 hours ago, StarCrusher96 said: I will ask kindly to not upload any of my content on other sites behind my back. Sure, our plan after the counter-claim is processed is to take these files down voluntarily. We don't need unnecessary conflict. 2 hours ago, StarCrusher96 said: There are exceptions when it comes to redistribution or mirroring 'against the wishes of the creator'. Is that true? Can you show me those exceptions? I'm looking at the summary of this mod's license right now and I don't see any: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/
