kittyfart101
Recently decided to get back into the game, and I'm wondering, what are the best mods released in the past year or two that I may not have heard of? Or just generally underrated and underused mods that have existed for quite a while. I have a huge modlist including the Near Future series and SCANsat, so mods of that caliber and quality are what I'm looking for, but mods with good functionality like LackLusterLabs and Gold Standard are good too. Basically anything that you'd consider essential that I may not have heard of in the past year or two. No paid mods please.
sardia2
I had this thought too. I'm also a returning space man with nothing but outdated mods. I'm hoping someone knows a research and development mod substitute. I'm sad this one is outdated. It was a favorite of mine.
DareMightyThingsJPL
I have a few you might want to try: Spoiler Sterling Systems - A modular parts mod that intends to be an expansion to the Near Future Suite of mods, includes systemheat compatibility Silly Photon Drives - A mod that adds photon engines, exceedingly low thrust, but as long as you can power them you have delta-v. Compatible with systemheat. Supplementary Electric Engines - Adds more electric engines such as resistojets, arcjets, pulsed plasma thrusters and FEEP engines. Compatible with systemheat. Near Future Aeronautics Waterfall - Adds Waterfall configs for the engines in NFA. https://spacedock.info/mod/3503/Near Future Aeronautics Waterfall KARE - Short for Kerbal Aircraft Reactor Experiment. Adds Nuclear Thermal Jets. Compatible with systemheat and RationalResources. CryoEngines Extensions - A mod that adds more Cryogenic engines to fill out nieces left in Near Future Launch Vehicles and CryoEngines. Interkosmos - Adds science parts based on real-world scientific instruments.

It's not that it's outdated, I'll actually be getting around to dong a small update for it, but it should work with 1.12.5. The main problem with it is that it's incompatible with many other mods which change values on the fly, such as B9 Part Switch
Fizzlebop Smith
What kind of playthrough experience are you looking for? I love playing with R&D / Komplexity / ScanSAT / Cacteye Have a hard time notinfcluding these on most plays. I'm a career player though and I like the Early Game struggle. I like covering the inner system with a few dozen foray into the cosmos for deeper exploration. The sterling mods are truly beautiful and incorporate some elements I have always wanted. My favorite are the curved radial attachment parts. I have always wanted curved heat shields and solar panels. But.. there is a bit of a skewed balance in career. Powerful and Efficient parts. IanCanberra
I am wondering if anyone has a youtube of how to do the duplicate Scansat missions. Like the Galillo IV and V ones for example
