Superfluous J
Normally I say something along the lines of "It can't get any worse" but we all know that's a huge lie. So here's to it not getting as much worse as I think it will.

We all know the bad things, but this is one moment, once a year, when we can all come together without governments and armies and wars and politics and join together in a celebration of the year to come, which is promise to no one, it's what we make it. And we should all be optimistic. Everyone! I'm optimistic. (That's half the battle!) Spoiler Edited January 1 by boriz

I feel the same way, as do many others, but this is one moment when we can synchronize with everyone else in the world! And shout "Next year will be better!" It's your only opportunity to do that. Treat it as you will.

boriz
"About me: I Am Broken" - I'm with you friend. I will not go into details, but I lost everything, yet I can still see the horizon. When I was a kid, I looked out of my window and saw a horizon, and thought 'what's beyond that?'. So, once I was old enough, I walked to the horizon, it took hours, and found that it was further that I thought, and I kept walking and found another horizon, then got exhausted and the sun went down, and I found a place to sleep, and woke up to an angry farmer, and he called the police. Then ... You know the rest. The point of the story is, hide where a farmer won't find you. No it isn't. LOL. The point is, always look to the horizon, and imagine what's beyond. It's about the journey, not what might be at the end. Edited January 1 by boriz
Superfluous J
In happier and more personal New Year's news (olds?), I have not smoked a cigarette for over 20 years. I smoked my last one right after the ball drop on NYE 2004 (so Jan 1 2005) Edited January 2 by Superfluous J Removed an unintentional (and incorrect) double negative

I am not being made to say this by a calico cat. <did i say that right kitty?> but for real kitten calendars and dachshund calendars are the best! 152201102025
Nuke
thing its there is always a kitten calendar. with many warm fuzzies. at the end of the year mom cuts out the pictures and staples them around my desk in a vain attempt to cheer me up. my actual room is completely undercoated. hundreds of staring eyes, demanding scritches and treats. from the wells of stock images, i wonder how many are still alive.
