Well I would have to say looking at the space race and the miles stones.....

first satellite=ussr

first Mammal in space = ussr

first man in space=ussr

first primate =usa

first eva=ussr

first woman in space=ussr

first civilian in space=usa

first scientist in space=usa

First black man in space=ussr (they borrowed a cuben)

first to the moon (unmanned) ussr

first to put 2 and then 3 men in space=ussr

first maned to the moon.... =usa

first space station USSR

first rondiviw=ussr

first docking= ussr

Alot of what we did in the space race was in response to something the Russians had arlrady done or something they said the where going to do

Winning a race is who crosses the finish line first, not who wins the most laps. Assuming the space race ended with the moon landing.

That being said....

Mankind went to the moon not just the U.S.. Without Russia the U.S. would have never sent anyone anywhere. It may have been touted as a political propaganda, but real science was done for the betterment of everyone on the planet.

Just as now with all the Apollo program mods cropping up helps foster creativity and motivates people to work harder at creating better rockets.

This benefits all of Kerbal kind.

This is a functionality test and only for the brave, or really impatient. THE J2 AND APOLLO LM FAIRINGS ARE TEMPORARY MODELS AND WILL CHANGE SIGNIFICANTLY.

This version of FASA is significantly larger and will consume more memory than the last. You have been warned....

You MUST delete the old version of FASA in your game data folder. BEFORE installing this one.

Before posting crash bugs you must install FASA (ALL OF IT) and only FASA on a clean install of KSP. I am not responsible for incompatibility with other mods or FASA breaking because you deleted part folders, but I will try and help.

If you already have Raster prop monitor or the reflection shader this will override it as they are included in the mod.

Added 2 plugins: Raster prop monitor for the LEM IVA and a Reflection shader plugin.

Added first round of Apollo parts, S1B Engine plate, H1 Engine, S1B Stage 1 LFT, J2 engine TEMPORARY MODEL, J2 fuel tank, J2 Adaptor, J2 Fairing decoupler,

LM 4x fairings and attachment plate.

Added DennyTX's Lunar Module with RPM IVA, Ascent and Descent stage and engines, lander legs, RCS

Added Probe Mini Parachute, Do not use on live subjects!!!

Removed IVA from Launch Towers and deleted the interior from the spaces folder, it didn't work well and the Misc folder is all you need to copy for just the towers now.

Increased Atlas main engine vac efficiency.

Added more Geiger counter science definitions.

Explorer probe data and MiniGoo is collectable on EVA now. Current missions will have to be restarted to see the effect.

Added science container to Rescue G pod...

Added .15 gimble to Atlas main engine

Reverted the Gemini Lander legs to there previous less broken state.

Combined the atlas long and short fuel tanks textures.

WFADFADXJGAGDSHGFBGS I'm so excited for the final 1B release. Not quite brave enough to try out the beta, but I can't wait to see how that LEM looks!

The safe and easy way to do it is to copy over a clean install of ksp into a new directory and install the beta in the new branch of ksp.

Well, tried it out. Bugs so far:

More than a few mislabeled parts. Notably, J-2 Adapter and J-2 Fuel Tank have their names swapped.

Saturn I winglets are fused to the mounting plate. This won't work with FAR and in fact will do nothing to stabilize the rocket.

J-2 looks more like an inboard H-1 engine, and has messed up textures. I suppose that's why you said the model could change (could you fix the texture and keep the old one anyway? It'd be nice to have two H-1 variants).

4x symmetry works neither for fairings nor the mounting plate.

LMDE spins the whole craft, though SAS can compensate. No such problem with LMAE.

Hmm the LEM looks nice. So many switches, buttons and handles to press from IVA view. So cool. But dont know what most of them do. Found gear, cockpit light, abort, stage, hatch open and evil laugh ?!

The J2 and apollo LM fairings are temporary models and will change significantly.

what engin and tank do I use for the 3rd stage?

and advice on a csm

The Saturn I and Saturn Ib had no third stage. As for CSM, I would use the Mk 1-2 pod, and the SN Decoupler and SN Service Module by SuperNovy from the Spaceport with the "Poodle" engine.

I have to correct myself a little here, a plan did exist to fly the Centaur, then called the S-V stage, as a third stage for the Saturn I launcher only. However, the Saturn I never flew in a three stage configuration.

The 4x symmetry is an issue with the base, not the fairing itself. Fairings themselves work fine.

As for the J-2, it was a remark that I decided to throw in. It'd be great to have two distinct H-1s for inboard and outboard, like on a real thing. The current J-2, scaled down and properly textured, would fit the bill just fine.

The download came with everything you needed, did you delete anything? The antennas themselves only use stock parameters and are not effected by plugins.

Also everything can go in one launch now.....

OK fresh install, only mod is FASA and I must not have all the parts because the only connectors I have are the ones that allow 2x can't attach 4 fairing panels, also IDK if I just can't find it or not but i also don't have the bay that opens up. A craft file for the whole Saturn rocket is needed.

Edit: found the MOL-E but can't seem to find the adapter for the apollo fairings to attach to

im getting this error from the Antenna,

anyone know what it means?

[Error]: Actor::updateMassFromShapes: Compute mesh inertia tensor failed for one of the actor's mesh shapes! Please change mesh geometry or supply a tensor manually!

Also doing more work on tuning the reflections. With some help from the plugin author I got the alpha map to work for the reflections for even more control.
