Kertech
Haven't posted in a while, revision for clinical exams is a pain! Meanwhile over the purple dunes In different news Spoiler Maiden voyage of my warp ship (can't remember what I called it) Took her over to Duna, loving the pretty much instant travel! Also set up warp beacons to go to and from valentine (the redwarf in a lot of my photos, gonna splice them into a career save, the kerbin end beacon is in low kerbal orbit so is hard to get to! In my career save (logs pending) Training for long endurance spacestation work has started in the north pole
eddiew
Strip mined the moon for all its precious science! The Moonwolf format proves highly effective, and the powers that be soon commission another - plus a toy for the boys on the ground.
Jouni
I continued the Tylo expedition. Moving fuel from the ascent stage to the descent stage lowered the CoM enough that the rover remained controllable at speeds up to 50-60 m/s. Sometimes I could even recover after losing control at 75 m/s. But not without breaking a wheel. Driving 200 km/h in heavy rover with underdamped suspension isn't exactly a smooth ride. Especially when the passenger compartment sways wildly every time the rover hits a bump. I drove around 100 km south from the cave and climbed to a crater rim rising 2 km above the surrounding plains. It's still over 300 km to the equator, but there doesn't seem to be anything interesting on the way there.

SaturnianBlue
I tested the performance of the Plasma Wakefield Accelerator engine for the Imaging a Kerbal Future series. After that, a few little screenshots and I can post the chapter! Or so I thought, because when I restarted the game, this very peculiar bug happened... It's some strange mirage/shadow of the ship I'm flying when I send it to space. I fixed it by reinstalling some of the graphics mods, but it's strange indeed... Julien Kerman
I accepted the "First Space Station" contract. First I had to launch the station core: Then I launched the crew on a upgraded Titan II Gemini: Docking took a while, but then it worked. Bob and Dibel are going to stay on the station for 30 days. CatastrophicFailure
What did I do in KSP? I had plans, grand plans! Last night I was finally going to launch my ridiculously tall Saturn analogue to 6.4x Iota, I've slowly been grinding for weeks to unlock tanks big enough, so I've got this tall, skinny, monstrosity that actually flies very nice. But what happened? I hit a deer on my motorcycle. Why there was a deer on my motorcycle, I'll never know, but I sure showed him! But damn my leg is sore today. Spacetraindriver
(Pretend I posted this Yesterday) Crash tested the F-117... Practiced rocket runs on battleships... Apparently I completely annihilated the Missouri...(She was right ahead of the other one...) Spoiler (crashed where she was) And tested a new train style. The F-unit was fine but the SD-45's wheels broke when they coupled up...

Starman4308
1 hour ago, Cpt Kerbalkrunch said: Ouch. Time to hire an engineer. Or mod that senselessness to oblivion! The efficiency formula is this: Eff = EB * (SBB + [SEF * EE]), where EB is EfficiencyBonus, SBB is SpecialistBaseBonus, SEF is SpecialistEfficiencyFactor, and EE is ExperienceEffect. EE ranges from 0 (no specialist), 2 (1-star engineer), to 6 (5-star engineer). So, to make ISRU be less insane, I'd tweak SpecialistBonusBase up (I have it pegged at 0.75) and SpecialistEfficiencyFactor way down (I have mine at 0.05). Alternately, set UseSpecialistBonus to false to turn that mechanic off completely. The MM patch to do it would look something like this: // Modifies the listed parts: @PART[somePart,anotherPart] { // Modifies a module named ModuleResourceHarvester // The ,* at the end says "modify all such modules, not just the first one" @MODULE[ModuleResourceHarvester],* { // Modifies the following variables to be at the set values. @SpecialistEfficiencyFactor = 0.05 @SpecialistBonusBase = 0.75 } } Otherwise: been constructing a couple large lunar stations. The propellant tank module in the foreground masses about 40 tonnes, with Real Fuels, completely empty. I finished configuring fuel cells for my installation; I independently came up with an EC-per-kilogram value that matched TaranisElsu's quite closely when I checked his water-splitter configuration, and I proceeded to nerf it; water splitting in fuel cells takes twice as much EC per kilogram water, and burning hydrogen/oxygen produces half as much EC as TaranisElsu set*. *Based on the 50% efficiency of proton-exchange membranes, though I'm not sure whether I want these fuel cells to represent a PEM cell or a SOFC (solid-oxide fuel cell). It still is by far the best option for powering my lunar ground stations overnight; 400,000 EC requires 20 tons of batteries, but I can get nearly 1,000,000 of EC for a measly 400 kg of hydrogen, oxygen, and fuel cell. I'll still probably send the nuclear reactor that I also spent a long time in Excel trying to configure; I need a surprisingly thin, 23mm lead cap for the 1.25m 300 EC/sec nuclear reactor. Thanks to all of you who helped out with info on shielding nuclear reactors; for all that I'm discovering how ridiculously effective fuel cells are, I'll still need a nuclear reactor when I send Kerbals to the outer reaches of the Ciro system. SaturnianBlue
I actually did this a while ago, but this is worth sharing—I sent a ship at Jool traveling 1% of the speed of light. First, I sent the ship far out, then had it slow down and head back towards the Kerbol system. After a few careful burns, I was on my way to Jool, and this gif is pretty much real-time. Aragosnat
Pretty much been busy getting this craft refueled in the last few weeks with a few manuevers also being completed and a long haul for those crafts: Had to make a few new tankers and refineies as what I was using was not right. Almost refueled and ready to go retorgrade in hopes it is enough to go out and save a Kerbal (contract reason) in a retorgrade orbit around the Kerbol aand with an orbit larger then Duna's. Speaking of which. Got my 3rd Duna Craft out of 8 in Orbit: While it may have 7k of Liquid fuel left. IT really cannot dock to the craft that needs fuel. As the craft attacked to the craft that needs fuel needs fuel to use the RCS. Sucks to have a non-monopropelant RCS..
Cpt Kerbalkrunch
Took a contract to expand a small base I have on Gilly. Had to add 12 Kerbals (the seats, anyway) and a ton of fuel and ore tanks. It's a pain to connect anything on Gilly, so I just built this monstrous rover. Didn't realize 'til after I launched that I could've made the ship smaller if I would've remembered to drain the fuel out of the rover to save the mass. As per usual, I was in a rush instead of waiting for the next window. Man, that is one ugly "base", ain't it? Oh, well. It made 2,000,000 bucks, so I'll take it. Tw1
I laugh in the face of Death. Though really, from now on, bailing out will be part of my abort procedure for an improvised type abort. It seems more survivable. Do these engines work? Yep! And the ominous black blob (A.K.A, Astro-Grab ) Well on its way to grabbing that D-class, for a lunar orbit capture. Also extinction event prevention.

xendelaar
I'm still working on my career where I want to unlock the entire tech tree with all reward sliders at 10% (funds, science and reputation). This career has been a real challenge so far but it has been a blast! It forces me to visit every planet and perform experiments on every biome in order to gain enough science point to unlock all tech nodes. This week I went to Tylo and visited all biomes using a miner/refiner vessel. It was pretty difficult to make vessel that had enough delta V and TWR to perform at least one biome hop without refueling. Here is a small gif of the biome hopper doing some hops. If you're interested in reading the full mission report, please click here.
