I am slowly working my way towards the components required to build a massive space station in one of my career games.  I need a boatload of science (I'm only to the 300 point cost tier right now), and I got this contract to get science data from the surface of Minmus.  Sure, I could launch an interplanetary craft and go get some science there (Gememone just got back from Eve), but if the game is going to give me easy stuff, I'll take it.

Anyhow, I dislike doing one contract at a time, so I troll through the rest of Mission Control and see what else there is.  I like pulling off multiple contracts as it forces me to think outside my own little box when designing craft.  And the only other contracts that involved Minmus were my least favorite:  Tourism.  I had one to do a Kerbin-3 (flyby and land on Mun, Minmus, and then return to Kerbin), but that was only for 2 tourists and the return was barely enough to cover the cost of fuel.  The other one I had was to do a flyby of Minmus with 5 tourists...for nearly 1 million in funds.  I don't need funds - the KSC is fully upgraded, and I have 400k standing by to spend on rockets.  So while I am set on funds, I saw a challenge here on sending 7 people to Minmus, landing 1 one of them to collect science data, and then get all 7 of them back home.  Why 7?  I needed at least 1 pilot, plus the 5 tourists.  And then I thought "I can either stick a probe core on the primary craft so it doesn't spin out of control in orbit of Minmus OR I can send up another kerbonaut to keep an eye on the busload of screaming rubberneckers while Jeb is on the surface".  So, 7.

The mission went off without a hitch.  Took the 5 picture-takers up to Minmus and left them in orbit with Valentina while Jeb headed to the surface.  Landed in the flats, grabbed a whole bunch of science, planted a flag, and headed back up.  Docked with the mothership, transferred all the data and Jeb back to the primary ship, went home.  Got into the atmosphere on Kerbin...and realized I didn't have a decoupler or a heat shield separating the craft from the remaining fuel tank/engine.  I'm coming in really hot, to the tune of 3k/s, so I fire up the engine and burn off all my fuel.  Luckily I had 4 drogues and 4 chutes, so I pulled those at 5k...and slowed down to a nice, easy 7 m/s landing in the water.

1000 science and 1 million funds.  I still hate tourism, but dang that's a wheelbarrow of cash!

Haven't got any pics because I was panicking, but had my first proper run in with Kerbalism part failures in the JNSQ save I just started. I was doing my second manned orbital flight to try and get the Kerbin space high Material Bay science, which was going perfectly fine... until I needed to my re-entry burn. I fired up my Pug engine, and it just... spluttered out.

I had an actual couple of moments where I thought I'd doomed my poor rookie pilot to suffocate (and feeling a little guilty because I'd actually boosted myself a little higher than necessary "just in case", which is what ultimately lead to the failure), but thankfully it turns out Kerbalism differentiates between "malfunctions" and "total failure". So I sent my guy out to inspect the engine, and yep, it was repairable. Got all the science, and the kerbal attached to them, home safe and sound.

...I'll definitely make sure to pack some redundancy on my Munar flyby though.

I've reached the final part of my spacecraft construction. It would be so cool to launch it horizontally from the runway, but after I spent so many hours with construction and testing, I gave it up, because I crashed every time at takeoff. Now I have to take off vertically, which doubles the launch mass, but that's it. I have enough of the experiments, and want to start the mission. But I still need more boosters.

Out of curiosity, what is this spacecraft going to do?

Yes I know, I made some people curious, but at the moment I want only tell you this. The spacecraft has a similar style and complexity, like my previous ones. The mission itself is more simply than my previous ones, but it is something, what nobody did before (at least I know only less ambitious missions of that kind).
