What did you do in KSP1 today?

I did my first journey to Moho's surface! Poor Kerbals, though...

-snip-

Well as long as they don't do anything stupid, they won't die. So once you manage to design a better and more efficient Moho ship, all you gotta do is bring along another capsule, hab, or any other kerb container (seats!), and you can rescue them. So I think the tombstone is a bit too early to plant there :) Keep your hopes up!

Remember, no Kerbal left behind! Not in one piece, anyway. Accidents do happen. :D

Okay, so as the day draws to a close: I have stranded two Kerbals on Moho, I have begun construction of a rescue vehicle, I sent a pine tree to the Mun strapped to the top of my rocket and brought it back, and am currently remaking GLaDOS. A very fulfilling day!

I finally, FINALLY, after about an hour's worth of real time, docked together to form my first ever space station. It's name is Standard Space Station Mk1, made out of Standard Space Station Core Mk1 and Standard Habitation Module Mk1. I docked using MechJeb, if you want to know.

While technically this was a few days back, I finally got to Jool.

This is my favourite thing I've put into space so far. The lines on those panels....

Jool is beautiful. I highly recommend going there. The probe has carried out the mission plan flawlessly so far. More or less.

That little sub-probe is going Jool-diving. Then it's next stop Tylo for the master probe.

If everything goes well, I may write up a mission report.

Added Micro rovers to b-car ship:

Added strobes and lights to rescue one and two. Rescue One orbiting Mun and Rescue Two orbiting Minmus.

Designed a small kethane portable miner "Keth Spark" for small vehicle refueling - Not tested yet. Intend to attach 2 to a ship like b-car or like for transport to Mun, Minmus, etc.

Stranded Jeb, and immediately gave the the rescue mission an 18-hour requirement (3 days.) Currently figuring out how to make something accurate enough for a good landing, and something with enough d/v to get back-I' m thinking maybe a jet blimp.

I give up on both the Energia-Ployus and the Vulkan.

-snip-

The Ployus had serious balancing issues as expected, and the Vulkan can't even lift more than 10 tonnes to orbit.

I remember doing something similar before...

That Vulkan was OP'd by its own right (I haven't modified a thing) that the first stage is already enough to boost me in LKO :D

Solved handling problems with my Nova Deep Space Explorer. Four stage rocket with first stage of four rockets mounted to the side of the second stage and feeding its engine with with fuel. Takeoff weight 236 tons. I have to manually correct as I make the gravity turn to orbit but am learning how to do the manual pad when ACS is disabled for the turn since the slow roll problem persists in the first stage with ACS off. I added a thruster pack to the second stage for orbital maneuvers as the gyros can't turn the unpowered second stage. The gyros can handle the 15.4 ton third and fourth stage probe package. Staging goes smoothly for the first stage as the four rockets drop off with a slight push away from the second stage. That second stage will place the craft into orbit with enough fuel for Kerbal escape possibly to Eve or Duna orbit.

The two stage probe package can easily reach any of the planets in the Kerbal system or go on a Voyager mission with fuel to spare in the third stage and a full fourth stage fuel tank.

I finally landed on the Mun!

KgNh2Vc.png

Commander Scott Kerman (pictured left) of Kerbal 5 was the first Kerbal on the Mun, with Specialist Dunlock Kerman (pictured right) his partner. They spent half an hour on the surface, collecting rocks and experimenting with using the RCS pack to get around on the Mun (pretty good, although they skidded a lot on the ground due to improper landings), before returning to orbit.

I actually had to spend some time reloading quicksaves as I was having trouble first landing, then taking off again. But thankfully I had no design problems - only piloting ones. As with Kerbal 4, I'm leaving the Mun Lander in orbit for future landing missions - but next mission will likely be to refuel the lander: I almost drained the main fuel tank getting the lander back into orbit.

Plan to post a full After Action Report (with pics) in Mission Reports when I have a chance to write it up.
