Rage097
So i made a boat, and began to put it in the ocean.Big real right? However, the second it touched the water in addition to splashes, I heard a bunch of random beeps. They were high pitch and had no pattern whatsoever. I throttled up and the beeping became more frequent until I cut the throttle and came to a stand-still. The beeping stopped then. Here's the boat:So anyone know what the beeping is or what's causing it?
UNSC
hmm, any mods installed? And do the beeps sound like something else in the game?
Rage097
hmm, any mods installed? And do the beeps sound like something else in the game?Nope, no mods and the beeping is unlike anything i've heard, really high pitch. Like Slightly higher than R2-D2 type beeping. They're also very short beeps as in "tapping a pen against your desk"-short.
UNSC
It could be a glitched "splash" sound effect. Does it just make the sound in water? Edited May 26, 2013 by UNSC Added question
Rage097
Yes, but the normal splashes play normally.(from the redundant society of redundancy)
Holo
I've encountered a similar "beeping". Can you record a video so I can see whether it is similar to my experience?
Vanamonde
The game has always done that, at least for some of us. Whenever I'm moving over the surface of the water, there's a sound like someone plinking little bits of metal together. And yes, it's proportional to speed. ZedNova
Does it sound sort of like a popping? Or high tension strings being plucked on a guitar?
UNSC
I guess another guess would be the engine sound and the splash sound interfering with each other. Does the sound play when you have momentum with the engines off?
Rage097
It doesn't sound like any of your descriptions. It sounds like really high pitch telegraph communications. with slight differentials between pitches.
Natsarugiy
I've experienced beeping similar to as you described it in .20 as well. Except in my case, I was performing a burn around Duna (in high orbit). I only experienced it twice, both occurred in Duna orbit and lasted for about a minute each. Both occurrences were 2-5 minutes apart. At the time I assumed it may be a bug associated to the Easter egg on Duna's surface, but now that seems highly unlikely as you've reported it on Kerbin's surface. The beeping sound was more steady than that of the Duna beeping hill Easter egg, if I recall correctly. But it does sound quite similar. I was unable to record it.I am on a clean .20 install of the game. No mods and no adjusting of any files (besides changing audio via the settings panel). I have been unable to reproduce this event. I have no idea as to what could be causing the bug.
hyperformer
it may have well been one of those times when the thing your doing lines up perfectly with another noise and it freaks you out making you think you are being watches, yep those things... AtomicCobalt35
I've experienced this beeping just now after sending my 3rd satellite into Kerbin orbit. First instance was after decoupling the payload from the KW fairing base I heard 2 pattern beeps and they sound like: beep beepbeep beep... kind of weird. I went back to the space center and switched back to my satellite again and heard the beeping sounds in the same pattern. This has never happened when I sent out my other 2 satellites before. Must be something transmitting signals out there and it's being intercepted by anything that has antennas?Image of the satellite a few seconds after hearing the beep (KSP v0.22): Edited October 25, 2013 by AtomicCobalt35
RocketPilot573
There's two kinds of beeping. One is an SSTV, which can be caused by the Chaterer Mod or a *static*. Another kind of beeping comes from water... Beep! Splash! Beep! Beep! Splash! Splash!
Ekku Zakku
The beeping from the water is certainly from the splashing, it's happened to me before testing boats. Just fyi, if your boat splashes constantly, it isn't a proper boat and isn't going to go very far XD
