What happened when you first landed on the Mun?

It was dark and quiet... then, for a brief moment, it was bright and loud. Then dark and quiet reigned.

First time I landed, I didn't slow myself enough, and splattered across a the side of the mun. Luckily, it was unmanned.

The second time I really "landed" on the mun, I used more fuel than I expected, and ended up with not enough to make it back to Kerbin, or even reach a stable orbit (Had to abandon Bill there till I rescued him later)

My wife and I cheered. It took me a dozen tries and each time I got into landing position (within 5k and headed down at a reasonable speed) I'd call my wife to watch. She watch me crash about 12 times and mourned the Kerbals each time. When I finally managed it. We cheered. That's the last time we spoke.

I've Landed on the 2 time if you in could landings where all of ship was distroyed but the CM and a Decupuler. I planted a flag and took about five minutes to get back in the CM. The crash landing was near the arch on the equator. The second time I landed on the Far Side of The Mun, also near the equator. The second time I just planted a flag and Fly around with the EVA Jet Pack.

First time I landed on the Mun, I didn't really land, I exploded because I remembered about horizontal speed when I was almost touching the ground.

First time i landed on Mun (perfectly!) the sounds of "R.E.M. - Man On The Moon" filled my house very loudly for a while. During which a huge sigh was had. I needed a towel to wipe away the sweat on my forehead. (i was not aware of Autosave or mods at this point)

I came in fast, with an insane idea of having wheels to land with high horiz. velocity. I spun, flipped, and hit an arch on the pod.

The first time I landed on my side and couldn't get up, on my first successful attempt I landed on my side and used a ton of RCS to tilt myself back over, image attached:

Not really landed. More like made a crater then a controlled crash a few dozen times before having. Not enough fuel to leave. Then having enough to leave with no fuel to retuen to kerbin. Think you know how the rest goes.

Immediately took off again... as I was more interested in seeing if I could do the round trip than exploring. My challenge is getting to and from places... with science that may finally change though.

Well, first time I went to the moon, my spacecraft flew in at an angle, and had it's parts spread all over the munar surface. Then I planted a flag, and waited for the rescue that I knew would never come.

Planted a flag, hopped in my lander, and tried to time warp forwards in time to nightime. My flag exploded.

thats how i remember basically every first landing on any planet

I tried to use winglet gear back in 13.3, and the furthest I got was impact with the Mun.

So I downloaded nova punch, and used the big fuel tank, big engines, then a shrouding piece, and small fuel tanks, engine, and gear.

My first landing I had done properly,Up until the point which I crashed into the surface,leaving just the command pod and Leming Kerman in it.I was landing in the dark,and I was playing the .18.3 demo.But I was still pretty thrilled.

I haven't figured out that I had to kill my horizontally before landing. Result: Not very good. The succeeding landings were successful though

The ASAS tried to "correct" the torque from touching down on a slope and ripped the landing gear and engine off.

I would like to know what happened when you landed on the Mun for your first time.

The first landing where all crew survived (it was a time when wings served as lander legs) IIRC I had all of the spaceship explode and only the capsule remain unharmed

It was in .20, and what happened was I sweated bullets, got Jeb down in his jury rigged lander made from what was supposed to be just an orbital single-seat capsule/service module and some landing struts, had a huge sigh of relief, and then an immediate realization that I didn't have enough fuel to get him off the Mun.

Rescue missions continued occasionally until 0.21 came out.
