I have a problem :(

Recommended Posts

Ok so heres my problem. I want to get this replica if the ISS into orbit around kerbin, but it is way to off balance and will not stay in a strait line even if i hack gravity. So my question is, can i put this thing into orbit by editing some kinda text in the save, or how could i get it up there.

Thx so much theebio :P

my advice would be to do it like NASA. Build it in space by launching smaller segments and docking them in space. Yes, its harder, takes longer, but, you can build impressively large, FPS killing stations like that!

this took about 8 launches all told. I still need MORE launches to finish it. 2 more and its basically done, save for crew rotations and the like.

Piece by piece is the best way, and more fun too.

If you really don't want to do it that way, and are seeking to expedite things for another purpose, there are some mods that could be helpful. I think one is Orbital Construction. I do have that Mod, but haven not used it. According to the information though, you could "spawn" your "craft" in orbit, providing you have the appropriate materials to do so. You might consider looking that mod up.

If you do decide to use HyperEdit. look up the forum post for it. The version in the SpacePort is way out of date. Better yet. here is the link to the site of the new developers. http://www.kerbaltekaerospace.com/ I'm not sure why they want their thread here on the forum closed. It comes up as the #3 hit on a Google search. Their web site is #10.

Yeah i think that flying it up would be more fun thx :D

btw here is a picture of my station : wAjUMJA.jpg

that does look like it would shred itself on launch as a whole unit, but, that is a NICE NICE NICE lay out you got there!! should be fun docking all that together, and wicked fun practice at docking to boot!

Ignore all that baloney advice of "sent if up in pieces" (unless they mean the giant fireball at launch).

MOAR BOASTERS!

MOAR STRUTS!

Put that sucker into orbit in one piece AND TOTALLY PWN SCOTT MANLEY!!!

Oh yeah, and don't take me too seriously :)

That station would have serious balancing issues on a standard launch (as you're no doubt totally aware by now). Yeah...only options I can see if you insist on getting it in orbit in one piece are to either hyperedit it up there or hack gravity. Hacking gravity would at least give you the satisfaction of a "genuine" launch. Even then, I couldn't guarantee the station would survive the stress of it.

getting it up in one piece does not have to be that hard.

Find the center of mass and build the launch craft

on its sides instead underneath.

Add some struts to keep the station rigid during launch. If it is not stable, more struts :)

And use aspargus.

Yo.....I REALLY like that design O_____O

I might copy some of it.

Getting it into orbit will definitely be annoying and you WILL need a lot of struts.....but then it wont look like that and will be just a web of stuff. (not a fan of too many struts)

I would definitely recommend getting it in orbit in pieces. It looks like it will be a lot of fun AND it will help get practice for docking (which, believe me, the more the better)

Option B is using docking struts, which may end up looking pretty interesting (with laser looking things keeping stuff together)

Option C is Hyper Edit, the quick and easy. I used it on my mothership because it ended up being HUGE but sexy
