Got my custom city day and night textures done. Need to tweak the scaling though.

However, the PQS terrain with city lights is quite different than when lacking city lights; for example, the runway turned out to be undergound when I moved KSC to a city lights area (not seen in these shots). Do you change the levels of the PQS at all?

Night:

Hmmm... that is odd. I don't modify the PQS structure at all. The only thing I swap out is the shader.

EDIT: Looks AWESOME BTW.

Hah, cool NathanKell. Recently Mu said they are working on new shaders, maybe rbay will get the next job offer. Talk about a whole new world!

Rbray being paid by Squad for his prodigious progress would be a fantastic news imho :)

Created, on the fly, every time, as opposed to generated from a seed (and so the same every time)? Yup, barking.

Volumetric forest, rivers, lakes, though....

So does this mean all planets with atmosphere have auroras? I guess there's no consensus on which planets do or don't have a magnetic field...

Indeed, I had mostly gameplay in mind. What I can do is change the auroras to be more dependent on each planet's atmosphere/gravity and provide that as an optional config.

Astronomer's Visual Pack V3 is finally out!

First: MOTHER OF GOD that's pretty.

Second: In the "Install E.V.E. Mod" text file you list the url of this thread as httpforum.kerbalspaceprogram.comthreads55905-0-23-5-7-3-EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements-NEW%21-VolumetricClouds%21 and it needs to be http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55905-0-23-5-7-3-EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements-NEW%21-VolumetricClouds%21

You can also shorten it to http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55905 which looks better in a text file.

Astronomer it's a shame I can't give you any more reputation ! :(

This... This Looks AMAZING ! :D

The only shame is that I'm going to have to choose between your work and SonicGalaxy's :(

Yet it's great that we have many choices in terms of customisation, thanks to all of you guys and girls that are actively contributing to the beautifulness of KSP :)

Many thanks !

I managed to play with the test version of Astronomer's pack for a few hours of the last week. Even in that very short time I had, I have to say it was apparent that there's a really light touch throughout. Really nicely done. Nothing looks too oversaturated or busy.

Ditto. Astronomer allowed several of us to play with a preliminary version for a few days. Amazing level of care and detail went into these settings and textures. Just beautiful work all around. I wish I could give him more rep. :)

Here they are.

XAWOMFms.png (note it's smaller so you can see the black; larger versions have alpha in the blending)

Still not quite happy with the street lights on the citylights version; also could use the "pools of light" from the original texture, maybe.

(Make sure you view the actual image and verify you're getting the png. If that fails I'll upload to dropbox.)

That *is* odd, yeah. Shouldn't be doing anything then.

Also, I take it the alignment of the city lights main texture changed? Is it now aligned to the planet's mapping?

Exactly. I figured it would be easier to make texture maps using those. I'm also planning on using alpha for cities, and R,G&B for the other texture mappings (grass, sand, snow).

EDIT:

Another thing I was considering was to use Alpha in the city texture for use with lights instead of a dedicated texture. The issue there would be less color variation. Thoughts?

That looks amazing! Same thing I ask for all the cloud packs, any chance for altitude values to match the various RSS configs? (10x & 6.4x atm) It sucks having to choose between having a big planet or a pretty one. :(
