Can you land on the sun?

As far as I remember, there's a certain altitude where the game will just destroy your craft and say that it overheated. Not sure exactly how close you can get, though.

You realize that when the sun "sets" it isn't moving, the Earth is moving. The sun is always burning, Fr8monkey; go back to school.

You do realize you're trying to educate a fan of a space game here, right? :P

I think it would be awesome if your ship could be built to be buoyant enough to float on the sun's corona.

So how much delta V would you need to manage anything even close to that in KSP, without something like the interstellar mod?

Every sun-diver I've ever build required about 8km/s of dV and it was a 16-day trip (one way of course). I haven't got any earthly idea how much power it would take to cut the travel time down to 18-hours in KSP; let alone the ultimate realism mod :D
