Porkjet
New partsThe long awaited bicoupler and a Scram-Intake.The intake is slightly better than the ram intake but much heavier. I've had this intake actually for quite a while now but didnt really like how it turned out so i changed it a bit and this happened. Please disregard the fact that the bicoupler kinda looks like a pair of underpants...look at this fatass Edited March 5, 2014 by Porkjet
Starwaster
Could use procedural wings as a cheat sheet for reasonable settings for wings of a given geometry. Or just retexture the pWings.Ooooo how does procedural wings handle it? Does it change the FAR stuff automagically?

I totally would never have thought of the underpants unless you had pointed them out.Now I can't see the adapter the right way anymore

mdapol
DREC is easy. Check a page or two back. I posted some configs that make your plane parts heat shielded. They also do other stuff that may be unwanted and on the subject of balance I added oxidizer to a part without thinking about reduce fuel content, so... Oops. But the DREC stuff is easy to pick out of there. As long as you don't just take the cheap way out and give all the wings a perfect heat shield. Ablative heat shields are more realistic. I hate when people just make their parts immune to re-entry heating. Why have DRE installed if you're gonna do that?

I hate when people just make their parts immune to re-entry heating. Why have DRE installed if you're gonna do that?Actually, because spaceplanes have so much lift they can stay in the upper reaches of the atmosphere far longer, giving them a much gentler reentry than the usual cone shaped pods. That's why they can get away with much lighter and nonablative heat shields. The space shuttle heat shield is a good example; it doesn't ablate or anything, it just soaks and reflects the heat.DRE models this as well, spaceplane cockpits have a reflective heatshield. They aren't as powerful as ablative heatshields but they're fully reusable. So a reflective heatshield is entirely realistic.

rhoark
Lockheed's winged CEV was going to have thermal tiles like the shuttle, with an ablative layer underneath just in case of tile damage, all over an inconel skin. If I were going to re-enter the atmosphere IRL, I'd want to do it in that.

Remember that everything in this game is configurable and it's easy to set values that don't make sense. The hard part is knowing what a realistic amount of reflection is. mdapol
Interestingly I see that the B9 pack already has a Mk2 fuselage bicoupler. Also, did you know that your attachment nodes are slightly off from the B9 pack? Whenever I mix the two there is a noticeable shift in the up-down direction. Is there any chance you could tweak things so that the two are compatible?

Its not as if everyone is using this mod and B9

NoMrBond
What's boring, the filling in the gaps or the bump/normal maps? Having the filler, it just looked like it was stretching, this way let you see more FX as the thrust went upAlas, no normal/bump map for it as yet, since I can't make the baking work properly and/or reliably, it's on the list of things I need to do
