Looks like we have an announcement!

This forum has a section titled "Announcements"; it probably would have taken their "Social Media Manager" ten seconds longer to post a new thread there as well as to Twitter.

My real beef with that is that I don't follow Twitter, or Reddit, or whatever else they're posting on, I follow these forums which are hosted by SQUAD. If SQUAD can't be bothered to post information here then what is the point of having this forum in the first place? Having a centralized place where users can come to discuss and be updated on the product would be really nice, but instead I have to rely on other users to bring that information here. These other users are doing a better job than people who are hired to do those things.

They are much busier than you who has time to write page long complaints. Just because they made an announcement on the forum and hour later doesn't mean they hate us or don't like the forums!

I'm doing something unique. I'm erasing all of my science points, tech tree unlocks, and science gained per planet (so zeroing out that part of the career) but am leaving all my ships in place. So as I'm re-sciencing myself I will be still able to use what I already have up there.

Which will give me a significant leg up on getting more science but will allow me to experience the new way in which it's gained and used.

Where's the announcement from SQUAD about this on this site? Mighty nice of them to keep all the hype on that terrible Twitter platform.

Hey regex. Apologies on that! Info came down while we were on an offsite staff meeting (not like the stuff from yesterday lol). Twitter was the best I could do at that time. I'm hitting all the other outposts right now.

Thanks, I appreciate the honesty. My gripe is that I've seen this sort of thing in other communities where the players have to bring information from outside sources into the "official" sites and I'd hate to have that happen with SQUAD.

I have mixed feelings with this one. It's great to have a actual date. On the other hand; Now it's more then obvious that the server(s?) will be down in less then a minute.. Now I have to refresh ever second of the day too (like everbody else), to prevent I have to wait a day or two/three because the server(s?) are over flooded, down or simply shutdown because of the huge server traffic they cannot handle

For what it's worth, those of us who purchased through Steam had the update downloaded and installed within a couple minutes of the release announcement with 0.22.

For a moment there, I thought that Steam users had gotten 0.23 a few days early, which would have been unfair.

Impulse control. I got skillz...

Good point! Does anyone know how that system works? Are the games/updates on the Steam platform actually hosted on Steam Servers?? And if yes, when they release a game/update do they upload it to Steam Servers or? How does it work?

My God, what has Squad done?!

Seriously, there is a REASON they don't announce update release dates!

That's kinda what I was thinking. IIRC the last time a date was announced ahead of time, everything just collapsed when the clock hit zero and it got pushed back a day, or something else bad. Not sure which it was, or if that was even the case though, so we'll see how it goes this time.

True. Updating was done at impressive speeds and no delays were observed on my account.

Maybe Squad is testing their new servers or something?

Anyway, it's better to give the interval than a point in time when the update is expected. "Sometime in the following 24 hours after date X" would ensure less problems than "Ready, set, go!".

Read: We had a big fat pre-release party and I was drunk-tweeting. My head still hurts, the taxi still smells of vomit and we're banned from our favourite pub for a year. But hey, .23!

...

Just kidding! Great news, thanks!

"Hey, the following 24hrs can mean ... 10 seconds into that interval!!"

Do not underestimate the crazyness of gaming addicts.

My bet is that it's a hoax, to stop people from asking for a date. I think it's gonna be released at the end of KerbalKon

Nice thought. :D

Honestly: I will be most likely at work the hour it does get released and even after that I am not 100% sure I will start playing right away - at least not in all seriousness - until my most dear mods get updated/verified. :)

I took a screenshot of the announcement: the first release date of history!

(ok, maybe I'm a little too..... enthusiastic?)

PS: I know that they did an announcement for the 0.22 but it was the day before, and not stated as an announcement while this one is six day before and stated as an announcement.
