Hasn't the press in Russia dubbed the PPTS the "Orionski", because of its similarities to the US spacecraft?

That would be the first time I heard that. "-ski" is a purely American thing; I do not know of any instances of it being used in Russian press.

Thanks for the info! A slightly confusing situation, but I'm glad to not be completely wrong constantly calling it PPTS :cool:

The lack of the chin was what made scrapping of the current PPTS model more attractive, that particular element of the capsule caused quite a few problems when seaking for efficient UV unwrapping, maybe just a lack of skill on my part - but, it made creating the capsule satisfactory quite difficult.

That looks fantastic! Is there any way you could make the boom a bit longer? I find that the longer boom gives a bit more design flexibility if you're clipping into things. Also, I think the way the hinge works might be backwards. I think it's supposed to start inline with the engine bell, mounted at the bottom of the SM, and then swing out to expose itself.

A thought I've been having now that we're on the topic of antennas. Is there any supporting code in the game to make antennas track like solar panels? I mean, solar panels can track the sun just fine, is there any reason that antenna dishes can't track Kerbin? Or even other targeted objects? I might take this to a dev thread at some points... That'd be a really neat feature.

Semi-related, does anyone have any recommendations for a good stockalike 1.875m Apollo orbital engine? I had a scaled-up RLA engine that worked, but that's still broken. The Fuji engine is good scaled up, but it runs on LFO, and the Apollo engine needs to run on hydrazine/monoprop.

Wow perfect :cool: Maybe you can just add some "grids" just like a net ? :) I mean not holes but just the shadow for example, it's just an idea i dunno if it's gonna be beautiful :P

PPTS, PPTK, Rus-M, Rus or PTK-NP?

PPTS was the original Name, PTK-NP was its Official name (after 2010), the Lunar version was called PTK-L

According to one reference I saw

PTK-NP was a space station transport 6 people for 2 days but I've seen at least one art rendering where it had a Soyuz style orbital module attached (actually that could have been the planned hub for the ISS follow-on and 3rd generation space station concept)

That later got split into several variants

PTK-L was the Lunar Station/Moonbase variant - 4 people for 10 days

PTK-M Mars Re-entry lander

PTK-Z Earth orbital system

Personally I'd just call it PTK-NP

I could never find a reference for PPTK, I've got a feeling it was something they used transitionally when the project got renamed

RUS and Rus_M were a different project for Launch Vehicles with a variable number of common cores so the same hardware could be used for a number of different payload levels from 6 tons to 100 tons - sadly cancelled - And could I put my hand up and ask for that if your feeling like a new TantaresLV member (it was pretty)

If it's the alpha channel, how does the whole craft not become reflective (Unless you are using a separate "reflectivity" texture)? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the mechanics of the mod. :)

I've just today remodelled the long backup antenna part.

Huge relief to find it hasn't affected my RT networks...

But, the changes are minuscule.

Not much to see without a texture, but I think it's a really neat design, the more I look at reference images.

The entire surface is reflective. XD. Just not enough to notice. I make the textures have 99% transparency except for the windows which are at a usual level of transparency.

Got a bug for you. The large Mir panels behave erratically with symmetry. The master panel is fine, but any copies made with symmetry are smaller.

The master panel is on the right, and a copy placed with mirror symmetry is on the left. As you can see, the left panel is smaller. I can't rescale the left panel, because the Tweakscale config still refuses to work for me. :mad:

I was able to get the module ready for launch by placing each panel separately, but it will that will be harder to do when using more than two panels.

Has to be purely a Tweakscale bug, because they behave perfectly for me.

Tantares TweakScale Config:

Created to scale parts to reasonable sizes based on purpose.

A few notes on how it works:

  • Surface Attatchable parts are scaled in reference to the thing that they were meant to attatch to.
  • 0.9375m and 1.875m are standard sizes for most parts.
  • Crew pods have strict scaling factors.
  • Installation instructions are in the README. PM me for support.

v1.1: (Simplified models, reduced part counts, improved authenticity, consistent FGB's, additional .crafts.)

v1.2: (Improved Soyuz and Progress authenticity, added Soyuz-TMA (XLT) soft-landing jets!)

v2.0:

  • Major updates and revamps to every single vehicles in light of all the parts that have come out since v1.1.
  • Utilizes parts Beale just recently released
  • Removed some ISS stuff in anticipation of 0.9375m docking ports
  • Added many Soyuz variants
  • Added and removed some vehicles ("Khleb" removed, because Beale ended up making it the name of the Soyuz capsule... :P)

v2.1

  • Update nearly all docking ports to new 0.9375m size
  • Added ISS modules, Gemini, ASTP, and Sputnik

Hmm. Let's fix that. What's not working, and what's the behavior? What versions of TweakScale, Tantares, and the config are you running? Any suspects that would cause conflict?

I absolutely can! basicfin, is as you might guess, a basic fin that Squad added to the game shortly after releasing 1.0. It's a really basic fin. Just adds a bit of drag, not attitude controls. This means either you've deleted it from GameData, or you're not running the latest version of KSP.

Maybe I'm a bit late to AntennaFest 2015, but here's something I'd like to see:

The two little antennas protuding from the SAR dish have always caught my admiration. They are so conical, and they have a spiral on them!

(Sorry if it's already in the pack, I'm unable to start KSP since a lot because of laptop shenanigans, so my memory is a little rusty on what's in there)

Tracking: I can make it track the sun! Joking aside, I'm sure that is not possible in stock. Would be a nice feature.

And I see a lot of stuff on the PPTS! That picture of the man introducing it to Putin made me chuckle. He's such a smug little man, but as an American, is it legal for me to say that in Russia?

Would anyone be able to advise me as to which parts have had 0.9375 versions added, and which of the 2 duplicate configs corresponds to the older 0.625 versions. I love the 0.9375 versions as I use tweakscale and procedural parts so they fit perfectly and would like to remove the 0.625 versions to save some ram and declutter part lists. Thanks!

since this mod is mostly about Soviet orbital spacecrafts, have you considered making Buran parts?

With the MK3 parts the only parts you would need to make would be:

transbordador-espacial-buran-ruso,-motores-de-un-trasbordador-espacial-148808.jpg

-the RCS things on the back

-the black thing that contains the parachute

and a slightly different MK3 cockpit.
