Hmmm since you guys are talking about "soyuzes"....

Is the soyuz heatshield too buoyant? I think it happens with other tantares heatshields too. If you jettison the shield, the capsule settles half-way into the water as with any other capsule. But if you hit the water with the heatshield attached, the capsule+heatshield will keep "basketballing" over the water. It is a strange behavior.

Yes I know...  "Just jettison the heatshield" or "its supposed to land on the ground". Maybe so, that's not the point. All capsules plus a heatshield have a weight/volume ratio so that they settle nicelly on the water, but tantares capsules + tantares heatshiels when used together, they just bounce over the water in a weird way. That can'y be right.

Edit.: or maybe its just me? Anyone else notice this?

I've actually read that this is a Scatterer thing. Something similar to what you described happens with a Mk1-3 pod and 2.5m heat shield.

Okay, this is getting strange at least to me.

I tried to use the pre-deprecated Sargas docking mechanism part from earlier version, which puts these files at the old parts/FGB-TUG folder.

Edit: I used version 20 and a clean GameData folder, yet it does not load citing the below:

This is very odd to me, as I copied these from versions where it worked. Does my latest KSP version handling wrong these two files?

Hmm.... I dont use scatterer, but do use EVE.

Still, no part I use keeps bouncing above the water. Not even tantates capsules, actually. Only capsules with tantares heatshields.

Some of the part names in the guide have likely changed (which is also why old craft files aren't working).  If you could rebuild the craft using the guide and point out which of the parts listed is incorrect, that would be super helpful.  I'll work through them all given time but any help would speed up the updates.

unfortunately I am a little pressed for time to fix the craft files at the moment, and don't have KSP installed anymore. Not going to do any more modding for KSP 1.

It would be possible eventually to clean up and release them, but if somebody can provide them I will rebundle the release. In the meantime, Friznit's wiki is the best resource you can ask for.

Sad to hear, but you've closed this mod on a pretty good note! Pretty grateful for the extra time you've dedicated to it since KSP2 was delayed, and I hope that when it does come out, you'll be in a good situation to do just as good!

You did good Beale, you made an amazing mod :)

but could  by any chance be adopted in someone was willing though?

So... no release for the 2MV anytime soon? Or is there already anywhere to grab them from?

The licence allows people to fork it as they wish.

I might try to finish it up at some point, since it is basically complete (just missing one set of solar panels).

You can grab the "nearly complete" version of it from here (just missing a couple of descriptions etc, maybe some balancing oddities).

I am sorry to hear that.

Non-the-less, thank you very much for a glorious mod.  It has been one of my required KSP Mods since almost the start.

I have below a link to a KSP Vostok that was made using this mod before Tantares LV was a thing.  Circa 2014.  7 years.  My gosh.
