Tarkata`s Basic Flag Pack!

(Volume 1 & 2)

Hi everyone! I been using and abusing of some of the mods this great community makes. So I wanted to contribute with something! I don`t know a thing about programming (even doe I have some great ideas), so I`m very limited on what I can do. With that in mind I made a Basic Skin Pack to complement the community designs! So let me show you my Flags!

If you want, you can download all volumes at once, check the bottom of the page ;)

Note: All the pictures used to make the flags were not made by me, they can all be found HERE and, well, all over the internet!

Updates:

09-06-2014

- Volume 1 released;

23-07-2014

- Volume 2 released;

- Now the flag pack have It`s own folder and is no longer merged with the vanilla flags (so please remove the old release version of volume 1 if installed);

- Flags from volume 1 have new names (again if you have the release version remove those old flags).

Installation: Unzip the file and copy the folder "GameData" to your Kerbal Space Program directory! :)

This looks pretty cool. I might install the RESCUE1 flag. The other rescue flags look a bit silly.

Well I wanted to add some purpose to all of them. For example the Science Flags for Science Missions, The Fuel Flags for Refuel Stations, The Rescue Flags for Rescue Missions, etc.

What do you find silly? So I can improve in the next volume :)

I think the rubber ring thingy doesn't fit the Kerbal theme

Are these just PNG files? I cant seem to find the old flag Mod where you could put the flag any where on the ship.

Yes this are just PNG files, I know what mod you are talking about, can`t find it also :(

Could you please package them so they go in their own mod folder rather than directly in the Squad Folder?

Hum, well I know absolutely nothing about modding. Don`t know how to make the game "grab" the flags if they are located in a different folder. But well it`s always good to have a new challenge, I will look into it tomorrow :)

Take a look at the UAL002 Flags, they're just in a folder inside GameData\UAL002 Flags\Flags\<png files>

Maybe some basic mission patches, or generic space-related organisation logos (without any names).

I don't have any specific ideas, I just think that flags should be more logo-like. E.g. "Satellite 3" works well, because it's simple, yet effective in conveying an idea. I would stay away from 3D graphics, or complex images like those rockets and planes. These don't work well as flags. All the fuel ones are technically good. Science 1 - 5 are also good as logos, but Science 6 - 10 aren't. They're just too detailed. If you can stick to relatively simple vector graphics that would be best IMO. Don't do shading, and if you must then keep it cartoon shaded.

Actually I really like the idea of the themes you made. It looks like you made those flags for individual types of ships, so you could continue along that road. Think about what KSP players do in the game, (including mods) and do more things along those line, e.g. a logo for ScanSat users that conveys the idea of surveying, or a logo for Remote Tech users that conveys the idea of interplanetary communications, and so on.

Well thanks for that! Maybe just by rename it the game catches them automatically! Then I will create my own folder and re-upload it tomorrow (It`s too late to do it now, 3am here) :)

I got ya, so for Volume 2 I will continue that "simple format" style and I will for sure take in consider your idea for individual ships and for mods! I Also want to add a few career based Flag themes like the one on my WIP sneak pick "Kerbal Quests".

Do you gents know how to make imgur albums looks like the one in the first post here. Mine is not quite as tidy as I'd like.
