If you could only install 3 KSP mods... which 3 would it be?

I don't really see the point in speculating on this topic because there is no such limitation, there never will be and, even if there were, it would be pretty trivial for a mod writer to workaround the limitation by combining different mods into a single mod. Basically, any limit of this kind would have to be on the number of parts and/or number of separate plugin DLLs, and not "mods" as a whole.

E.g. my standard mod set is; KER, KAC, Toolbar, DPAI, Editor Extensions, Part Angle Display and have just added RCS Build Aid. It would be pretty trivial to package all of these up into a single "mod" folder, it may not even need any changes to the code in the DLLs at all (and probably wouldn't break any licenses as long as it wasn't released).

It's just a "name your three favorite mods" thread. Some encouragement for those who've made popular mods, some recommendations for those new to mods, and some new mods introduced to veteran mod users (I discovered the excellent NavHUD mod because of 5thHorseman's post here).

It's also fun exercise in "what would you give up", especially since a lot of people think a good chunk of their mods are essential. Honestly, I'm never giving up FAR, DREC, or RSS, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a forum game.

I don't know that there are many mods that truly depend on Toolbar. Use it and support it, yes; require it, not so much. (Not a knock against the mod, I use it and love it).

I bet ModuleManager is up there, if we're looking at dependencies. Maybe Firespitter's dll, too.

There are a few. I can't name which ones off the top of my head but I know a few of them I have come bundled with it.

Well, it isn't really. It supposes that you can only install 3 mods which could mean that the 3 you "have" to install aren't actually your "favorites". This is more a "what 3 mods (or fewer) do you think are essential?" thread, my answer to which would be, just KER. I could happily continue to play KSP with just KER for years and still find things to do.

P.S. Not meaning to be needlessly pedantic or picky but I've been struggling with a load of badly specified program requirements for the last few days and people not saying what they mean is really getting to me... ;)

P.P.S. I'm not against threads of the sort you describe as I believe that everyone that creates and/or supports mods in their own time (a considerable amount of time in many cases) for little to no reward, tangible or otherwise, should be given as much thanks, encouragement and constructive criticism as they can be...

For carreer mode, Mechjeb, DM orbital science and Universal storage. I probably couldn't get very far at all without them.

For sandbox, Mechjeb (I can do most of the stuff manually, but mechjeb is better at it than me), Near Future Propulsion (all parts-I presume it only counts as one mod) and the mini shuttle pack (BEST space shuttle ever created in kerbal. Even I can work this thing.)

I do only use three mods:

Kerbal Alarm clock: essential for running more than one interplanetary mission concurrently IMO

Kerbal Engineer: numbers!

Mechjeb: I chop and change between KER and MechJeb for data, so tend to have both installed.

Can't be bothered with part mods, they're a hassle.
