The spining whip returned to me after 3.04

A spining whip?

Never heard of such a thing. Is this the bug (I also encountered 1-2 months ago) that some spinning space station are dangerous to start in, because their spin can push your spacecraft out of control upon start?

Spinning ship, sorry.

The spining ship bug was when you were loading and stuck there, hence why it's called like that. (the loading screen is an orange spining ship)

Ah, you mean the "Game does not load"-Bug :D

I remember this from the first few versions of Beta 2 ... in Beta 3 this Bug fortunately has evaded me

It's horrible, had to delete my save to solve it, it worked, but i lost my anaconda + 4 million credits. :(

Im i the only one here who not gona grind 2-3 weeks to test the ships in a Beta release? The ship an weapon prices are ridiculous

The ships prices aren´t ridiculous but rather prices that fit to the release.

The prices that we had before Beta 2 were ridiculous (i.e. ridiculously low).

Also Beta 3 didn´t result in a complete wipe ... instead just your ships and equipment from Beta 2 were converted into money so that you would have been able to immerdiately repurchase Ships in Beta 3, with the money you made in Beta 2 (with other word, the time to get money and buy bigger ships and/or more equipment is the time of Beta 2 and Beta 3 taken together ... much more than 2-3 weeks)

i playd alot of E:D and i have no problem when a Anaconda cost 70'000'000 Credits in the final game.

but now its BETA and when i start fresh i have a sidewinder with 4 cargo holds and 1000 Credits! when i go to the distress beacon and kill some NPC i get 1000 Credits!!?? so for an anaconda i have to shoot 70'000 NPC's ( in my opinion ridiculous as hell)

Ok there is trading too, but how much is a adorable trading ship? 30mios or 40 mios? and i have to get it with a crapy hauler? and the Weapons arent for free they cost 50'000+

if you start by 0 in Beta 3 you have to grind min. 1-2 weeks just to test Weapons all the new module and ships

I just stop playing until its out! :-)

The Cobra makes a very serviceable trading ship and it's pretty cheap at a few hundred thousand credits. Not too much of a slog to get to from the Hauler. After that a Lakon 6 is probably where you want to be. 1.2 million or so, if I remember correctly, so not cheap but much more achieveable than any of the other big ships. Once you're flying fully loaded 6's around the galaxy, you'll be raking in the cash.

The Cobra is a little bit harder to find now, however. None of the traditional shipyards (like Aulin or I Bootis) has it anymore ... had to do a little voyage searching for a Cobra dealer in order to replace my exploration and trade Hauler with a Cobra.

btw. if someone wants to make nice money by exploration ... Meliae is a nice lucrative system ... lots of planets ...

first pass with planet discovery gae me ~14k, second pass with detail scan of the planets and moons gave me an additional 18k.

But it is also a dangerous system ... had to evade numerous interdictions

I have tried to get some info about a few details about Elite Dangerous, maybe you folks from the beta can help me out.

Something that would make the game instant-buy for me (and a friend) would be good coop playability.

- can you team up with someone?

- is there a "follow" mode - like in freelancer 10 years ago. This made navigation in groups and escorts great and immersive

- can contracts be shared?

- is there a persistent online universe or can I also host my own dedicated server?

thanks ahead,

Fjord

It is a persistent online universe, and you need a internet connection to play, however there is also a 'solo mode' where you see only NPC's but the actions of other players still influence stuff like commodity prices and the like. They just added player interdictions to the game last week. This is where a player can pull another player out of supercruise (a type of fast-travel mode used to fly between planets inside a solar system).

Thats what we have so far.

As of now, coop options are extremely EXTREMELY limited... Basically the only thing you can do is text/voice chat with people near you or people on your friend list.

Things like cooperation, flying together in groups, player - player docking and trading, player-generated escort missions and other types of missions, completely offline play and many other things are planned (and are supposed to be in the final game that is due to be released in a bit more than a month) but not a hint of any of that has yet been seen in the betas.

They grow up so fast! *snif*

It's going to be a huge disappointment. They are going to "release" something very close to the current beta build that has a small amount of gameplay. The people who buy it at release will all be like: "DIZ GEAM BORING! NU STAFF TO DU! STUUUPID!" and will probably walk away and pointlessly throw money at star citizen in hope of a good game. The devs are doing a really bad choice right now.

I dunno. At first I was worried, but the game is actually pretty good as it is, and what they've been hinting in newsletters combined with the lack of dev info for a good while gives me hope.

Besides, what else do you think is really missing, ignoring things planned for expansions?

Well, it looks like it's gonna be no more than a DLC packed game (*ahem* EA)..

Look at that, skins, expansions, ships, etc.

All that in the store costing extra money.

And in the frontier forums looks like they're blocking every thread against FD, even if it's constructive criticism.

The always online thing does not bother me much personally, but I can see why people are upset about this. I just hope that ED servers will be stable.

What worries me more is the current state of the universe - yes its vast and beautiful but it just feels "empty" and lifeless. After my first "wow this is so awesome" moment came the cold shower - the ED universe feels like randomly generated systems and stations floating out there, I cant immerse myself enough into it without any story or events. Sure I will be still playing heck out of it and staring at various spacescapes but what about new players that aint that much into exploring?

I`m seriously worried about future player base and funding for Elite.

I guess no matter what I always have to get back to EVE online to get my space mmo fix :)

(dont even tell me obout Star Citizen nonsense, dont even - I won't touch it unless they actually show something apart from FPS part of the game ;))

It's not DLC packed. The devs need money. Few people ever complains about star citizen with all their ship selling, yet their devs burn through the money too quick. There is no ship DLC, skins do not matter. The expansions are good, as usually devs would not make big updates to games that have been released a year or more ago because it would be too expensive. This is nothing like EA DLC. The first planned DLC is walking around stations and ships, which is quite a big addition to the game. Then, we will get planetary landings, with vehicles and aliens, which is a massive addition. None of that would be possible without selling the expansions for money. And I have never seen any threads against FD with constructive criticism blocked. It's usually just "DIZ GEAM STUUUUPID! ME PLAY STAR CITIZEN INSTEAD!" threads that get blocked.

Not to mention the DLC will take years to be released.

The argument against dlc in most AAA games is that they cut away features prior release that would have been in the original game. dlc/expansions released and developed post-release is acceptable, because your paying for the devs to carry on working after release to produce more content.
