Ditto. "Funds" are...awkward.

No idea why they didn't go with Kerbucks or Kredits or somesuch. If they didn't want cuteness and K-puns in the game, then they shouldn't have spent several years including them.

When has squad succumbed to k-syndrome? the star in the middle of the stock system is called the sun, only the community sometimes call it kerbol.

It's a game about Kerbals called Kerman who live on the planet Kerbin, and work for companies with names like Kerbodyne. And there's a reference in the loading screen to "adding K to every word".

I like the sillyness; the cute facade is part of the appeal of the game.

Lots of good choices from the fans here. Personally I'm with you guys and am not a huge fan of the term "funds".

I had thought that I was tied between Kredits, Kerbucks, or Roots, but Kesos is great and is now my favorite and headcannon term, cuddos to you curveball anders.

I'd be happy with any of those, heck even Starbucks would've been cool to my inner Battlestar Galactica fanboy. I'm just not digging funds sadly :(

I personally don't like the whole 'K-Syndrome' thing so Kredits, Kesos are all out (and Kerbucks too, which to me, is the laziest and silliest way to name the currency. "I'll just take an actual Earth currency word and add a 'kuh' sound at the front, yep, that's perfect"). Starbucks is a genius idea, but coffee..

In my own headcanon, they're unitless, like fuel. How much money do I have? 749,493. It's simple and doesn't sound stupid and forced. If I had to pick a name though, I'd go for Roots. It rolls off the tongue easier than any other suggestion I've seen.

If you watch the official 0.24 video you'll see that Kerbals don't actually use money. They just give something to their business partners and get back something else of more or less equivalent value.

I believe that "funds" are just a metaphor for us Earthlings who can't think of business and stuff in terms other than currencies. But Kerbals actually can. Jeb isn't like "I have 100500 funds", he's like "I have this, this and that so I can trade this stuff for these and these cool parts".

So the "funds" we see in the UI aren't bucks or roots or whatever. They aren't money at all. They're, well, funds.

Kerbals do their space program in their own genuinely Kerbal way.

A lot of games use Credits as their currency, nobody cares.

Even more games use Gold as their currency, still nobody cares.

A whole lot of Japanese games use Zenny/Zeni (meaning "coin" or "money") as their currency, does anyone cares?

But when a game uses "Funds" as its currency...

Zorkmids?

Triganic Pu?

The trouble there is that the Triganic Pu is made up of 8 Ningis. Simple enough, but the Kerbal funds don't use decimals at all in the funds number. So that doesn't help.

The other trouble is that the Ningi is a rubber triangle 1600 miles on a side, so no one has ever had enough Ningis to own 1 Pu. This would make it hard to pay for things.

Since it isn't an interplanetary economy, we go with Flaininan Pobble Beads, though.

Since the Flaininan Pobble Beads are only exchangeable with other Flaininan Pobble Beads, we'll be fine as long as Squad doesn't add other nations or alien species. Otherwise we might have to use the Altairian Dollar.

These look like the closest parts for the "funds" symbol.

maybe a hybrid of the two parts that make up the symbol could be a good name.
