Quadcopter/Extra Small Probe Parts. FIRST RELEASE AVAILABLE (fixed now...I think)

Wow, even as small as these things are, the part count can go up a ton really quickly. I tried to make a launcher to take these things to the rest of the universe and before adding my four drones I had a manageable ~200 parts on the thing. After adding four drones, I'm topping 400 parts and now cannot load the craft without KSP crashing. I've never actually done that to myself before. It's both awesome and annoying at the same time. It's like that famous cat... you know, the one that's dead and alive at the same time? There's a connection to my situation in there somewhere, I'm just not sure how to pull it out of what I just said. If I could, it would be seriously deep.

Yeah that issue was something I overlooked.

For the basic quadcopter you need probe, battery, rtg, 4 arm sets (3 parts each), 4 props and 4 shield parts. That ends up with 23 parts. Alone its a small number, but it adds up.

I'll likely make lower-part variants such as 1-part arm, a full single-part chassis including probe core, and a prop/shield combo.

That would be cool. I would make the body one part and then just have choice of engines. These little guys shouldn't be more than maybe 6 parts.

Yeah- I would think that you would have the body with several choices and then 2 choices of engines with arms.

I'll look if I can make KAS MM configs for the 0.25 version of this, maybe even a big container.

After that, the 0.5 version.

EDIT:

A small one-engined monoprop drone next to the two KAS containers:

Left: Container Type B (capacity of 80), right Container Type A (Capacity of 40)

The small box has a capacity of 40 and the probe body has the size of 4 (there is enough space for 2 next to each other and 5 on top of each other, 40/2/5 is 4)

This picture still shows the storedSize as 3, but it has changed to 4

In relation to this part, the other parts would have the following values:

RTG: 3

Battery: 3

Shield: 8

Leg: 10

Floatie: 1

Arm mount: 1 (numbers can't go smaller than 1...)

Arm: 1

Engine Mount: 1

Propeller: 4

RCSTank: 2

RCSEngine: 2

Everyone agrees?

EDIT 2: got all the grab 'n store modules right (except for the RTG: name issue?), but attaching them after grabbing results in crazy rotations.

When I'm loading KSP, the progress bar get stuck loading on 'Tinyegine'. Renaming it to 'Tinyengine' didn't help anything; deleting the part shows and everything else loads properly. Any idea what might be messing up?

Do you have the logfiles? And what other mods do you use? Do you have the 0.5 or the 0.25m version?

So, to find what might be failing, I did the following:

1. Empty my GameData folder except for Squad, NASAmission, and the files from the .25m ZIP.

2. Add my mods back in one at a time until something breaks.

3. Everything fails to break.

There is clearly only one possible explination. My computer is haunted.

As long as boosters don't disappear on launch, everything is fine :P

how is it going? I hope that you are still bussy creating parts.

Me too... Is there any progress?
