Star Wars 7

Why is everybody jumping to the conclusion that this movie will be bad so quickly just from a teaser? You haven't seen the movie yet! Personally, I don't care if a movie is Star Wars or Star Trek, as long as it is enjoyable.

From the potential leaks I've read which may or may not be real, I am completely fine with Star Wars moving away from it's 'roots'. Remember, they had the writers for Episode V working on this, coupled with a LOT of the old guard helping to temper JJ's... eccentricies.

If what I've read is real, it's a darker, but... still awesome turn. Believable character growth on the part of the old heroes, faces I wasn't expecting to hear about again brought back in ways that are actually pretty good, new threats carefully added in to avoid the sequelitus the EU developed, actually a lot of nice work if it's real. I've got a lot of issues with the Star Trek Reboots, more with Into Darkness than the first one, but we know the idiot who caused those issues (the writer), and that's not the case with this one. The directing wasn't really what was wrong with those reboots. Heck, the directing was one hell of a warmup for Star Wars, and if he can pull some of the same moves that he did over there over here, my body cannot ever be ready.

Besides, the Falcon. I want to hug her, to love her and never let her go again.

Because Episode I, II and parts of III... Not to mention Han shot first.

those were the result of George Lucas' own incompetent story writing which i should mention was planned since the very beginning...

this is by whole different set of people who couldn't possibly fail as hard as last time no matter how hard they tried...

unless of course the whole movie was Jar Jar but that is besides the point

As a criticism to the trailer, some of that stuff really looks like I am looking at people in costume. Something is off, but I don't know what it is.

On the whole, the trailer looks good. I'm excited, and cautiously optimistic. As far as Abrams goes as the director, I do appreciate that he is a Star Wars fan and will attempt to do the movie justice. On the other hand, lens flares aside, I am going to be disappointed if he can't do a better job making Star Wars feel like Star Wars than he did making Star Trek feel like Star Trek. And I am going to hold onto the faint hope that he will not try to ruin this movie with Lens Flares.

what's the thing with "Han shot first" ?

In the original Star Wars (what people today refer to as Episode IV) Han Solo shot Greedo mostly because he was annoyed at him. It was very obvious that Greedo was willing to shoot Han, but not that he was about to immediately. Han, as they say, shot first.

In the ... update ... in the 90s, Suddenly Greedo shoots first and shows that he must have had Stormtrooper training considering he missed his stationary, confined target about 1.5 meters away, and not just by a little bit. So Han, now in self defense, shoots Greedo and maintains the Disney definition of "good guy" (Note, Disney didn't own Star Wars back then, but Lucas obviously wanted Han to conform to their standards for heroes).

Most fans consider this a bad move.

Wow you are kidding right? That pisses me off so much. Of course it is a bad move, I don't understand why the blockbusters have to keep straight good guys and straight bad guys. This is so wrong. But I see it most blockbusters today - the propaganda of humanism, democracy, religion - that they are the only good things in the world and cannot be substituted. The media and movies especially are really getting inside our brains and try to steer us in the path they want to. I might have maybe too radical opinion on this but I really hate how they are keep trying to get their ideas inside our brains. And its working for the most human population.

Anyway the change of this scene is really wrong. It makes much more sense in the first version... Well, ultimate good guys... :/

ISuddenly Greedo shoots first and shows that he must have had Stormtrooper training considering he missed his stationary, confined target about 1.5 meters away, and not just by a little bit.

But they fixed that later, where Han magically leans over to dodge the shot. So that makes it all better and then everyone loved the change.

In the original Star Wars (what people today refer to as Episode IV)

As far, far as I can remember, the scrolling text always announced Episode IV?

OK:

"In the original May 1977 release of Star Wars, the opening crawl did not feature an Episode number or the subtitle “A New Hope.†Those would be added with the film’s April 10, 1981, theatrical re-release."

But it is still somewhat strange to say "what people today" ... how old are you? :D

Old enough to have seen the original in the theater, but not old enough to remember much :)
