edge highlighting ppfx

Recommended Posts

My game says I don't have the hardware and the setting is greyed out. What hardware do I need? And what exactly does this do?

Thanks in advance to any who reply. :D

(edit: if this is posted in the wrong place I apologize.)

Thx for moving it to the right place, sorry for the inconvenience.

Its in the setting section under the graphics tab, at the bottom, on the left. Right underneath the "Aerodynamic FX quality" slider.

edge highlighting (PPFX) : with a greyed-out selection point. With the words "no hardware support" next to it.

edit: This setting is new, as it wasn't there the other day.

And the questions im asking,

1)What hardware do I need? (that im apparently missing)

2)And what exactly does this setting do?

I've got the same issue. I have an AMD graphics card and an integrated Intel (laptop), I'm not sure which one KSP is using because of bullcrap switchable graphics shenanigans. It's grayed out for me.

Specifically:

* Windows 7 64 bit

* HP Pavillion g4

* Intel HD 3000 series (I think)

* AMD 7400M series

* Intel i5 2nd Generation

PPFX requires a graphics card that can support it, so at least shader model 3.

What it does is allow for highlighting the edges of parts in KSP, it's pretty but also just cosmetic, it is also responsible for some new graphic issues with anti-aliasing.

Most newer AMD and Nvidia cards can use it, but older cards and most Intel chipsets cannot.

From my log file:

HighlightingSystem : Edge Highlighting requires AA to work!

This is a hard ware issue?? -> Enable AA and the PPFX thing works.

I disabled the ingame AA because it doesn't work with OpenGL. I used the NVIDIA software instead.

Okay guys, it is visible only when you are mousing over a part in the staging list, not just any part in the game.

Add a highlightable part such as an engine, launch your craft and mouse over the engine icon in the stage list.

Oooooohhhhh....

I thought it would be visible when mousing over any part, thus the option to disable it :D
