Myslius
Keep the navball up by default when switching to map view at flight. The first thing i do when going to map view is bringing that navball up. I guess some of you do the same.A simple suggestion, probably changing from true to false somewhere.
BudgetHedgehog
All of my yes. Always show it by default on the map screen.
michaelsteele3
Agree. It should be in the options menu or a button in game to "lock" it.
Starwhip
100%.When would you ever need it down in the first place?

Panzerbeard
100%.When would you ever need it down in the first place? It stops you accidentally moving your craft around while in map view, I guess?
Red Iron Crown
I like this idea, the only downside I see is accidentally triggering your Abort action group when refocusing to the ship using the backspace key. Could probably just disable abort in map mode, can't remember the last time I aborted when looking at the map.

Superfluous J
Simple solution that will make everybody happy: Make the navball halfway up, halfway down.
Wallygator
IMHO if this were an option in the settings menu 90% of players would say yes enable it.
BudgetHedgehog
Simple solution that will make everybody happy: Make the navball halfway up, halfway down.Perfect! Then the people who want it 100% up can still pull it up and the people who are used to the hidden navball will barely notice it. I mean, if you want to hide it or show it completely, you'll be clicking it anyway, it being halfway takes half the work from you. At least it being 50% tell newbies that the navball is still there.. granted, there's not many situations where a half-hidden navball will be useful, but it helps reassure new players it's not gone completely. Panzerbeard
No. It's stops you seeing that craft is moving.Really? I vaguely remembered the controls being locked. Certainly the throttle and staging controls are, at least.Been a few weeks since I've played, though, so I'm probably misremembering

KerBlam
I like this idea a lot.Even if you could just see your relative velocity, it would make life better.
Eleven
In the meantime FWIW there has been a plugin for quite some time now that enables this by default:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/80683-0-23-5-MapShowNavBall-show-navball-by-default
KerbMav
Even more disturbing: hiding the navball in MAP mode disables the selection of displayed craft types on the top of MAP mode?!
