Roots ? Plants are rare, let alone roots... must be pretty valuable to kerbals ? Kash is also a good one (like, wash machines need kash. Wash with Kash).

Or Squid, kuid... penny-derived names sound too small... nickel-derived ? Dime-derived ? Dollar-derived (what, kollar) ? Specos comes near species IMO... Funds is too flat I guess.

I like "Kerballs", or the more civilized "Kerboules" (which has evolved with time and common use to the simplified "Kerbools").

You've got to wonder after all, with the surface of Kerbin being so barren, what exactly are they going to use as their "gold standard"? In my personal Kerbin, taxidermy is a thriving business, and jewelry tends to be of rather questionable taste.

I usually call any type of unnamed point currency "creds" so I guess you could call them "kreds".

Also, roots is a brilliant name for them.
