  1. I'm curious how physicsless parts (there are still physicsless parts, right?) would be accounted for by a part count limiter. They wouldn't produce lag, but people might find it confusing that some parts add to their part count while others don't.
  2. So, life got in the way, but I wanted to give this another shot. Part 2:
  3. I think that this is a bit like asking which is more important in an engine, a spark plug or a piston? Without either, the engine can't function. You need both for the whole thing to work (unless it's a diesel engine). And astronaut can make quick decisions that Mission Control might not have time to give input on. Mission Control can see the big picture and give the astronauts options that they couldn't have seen otherwise. Both are necessary on a manned mission. Without one, the other has can't function. However, the decision will ultimately come down to the astronauts whether Mission Control likes what they decide or not. What's Mission Control going to do? They're in space. Until they're on the ground, they're on their own.
  4. Well, Dagobah wouldn't really make sense with the plot, though. Part of the plot is that Luke is hiding in an unexplored part of the galaxy, and Dagobah is obviously both known and explored (I'm not going to think about how the "map" supposedly worked, though). Plus, that's an obvious place for Luke to hide, as that's where he was trained. He wanted to be left alone, so he chose a place where nobody would guess. But yeah. Jakku should really have just been Tatooine. Jakku is just random-desert-planet-that-I-don't-know-or-care-about. Tatooine has a history. Jakku does not. Of course, the filmmakers probably decided that it made no sense to have all three of their Jedi heroes come from Tatooine. A galaxy with thousands of habitable planets, and three significantly powerful Jedi come from the same place. What would be the odds? If that was their reasoning, then they should have found better ways to differentiate Jakku from Tatooine.

  6. You mean you want text to appear in your video? Depends on your video editor. There should usually be something about adding subtitles that you can use. Or do you mean the "overlays" that appear over YouTube videos (often containing things like subscribe links)? That's a YouTube thing, in which case I can't help you. Also, let me Google that for you.
  7. Banned for an avatar irrelevant to your username.
  8. Well, it always says that, but everyone just ignores it. I don't know why they keep that message in. If everyone were to clog up the forums with crash logs, it would be impossible to organize, and there's no way that the developers would have time to go through every crash log. Usually just ignore posting the crash logs unless you have a specific issue that you want help with.
  9. The movie was fine, but I'm really disappointed that their plot was "the bad guys built ANOTHER Death Star, except that this one's even bigger than the last two." And I don't know anything about those planets that got destroyed. Their destruction just felt like an excuse to fire their giant cannon. At least give me some context as to why they targeted those particular planets. Were they just convenient test-fire targets? Did they house an opposing faction? Why? The movie suggested a little bit that they were a seat of the New Republic, but it really doesn't tell the audience anything about what is going on. Those were my only really big complaints, though. Most everything else major about the movie met or exceeded my expectations (and the Darth Darth Binks fan theory is still not confirmed/denied, so I can still have fun theorizing about that).
  10. True enough... When it's safer to land next to the runway than on the runway, there's a problem. However, in my experience, water landings only work if you have a water landing in mind when you design the plane. Otherwise, parts tend to shear off and break even with the most careful water landing. And IRL a water landing is typically preferable, if you can design a mission and air/spacecraft to accommodate it.
  11. I'm assuming that he means Tasmania or New Zealand.
  12. I only just bought Minecraft a few months ago, and I felt like I'd already exhausted most of its potential within about two weeks. After defeating the Ender Dragon, there's just not much goal to achieve. Yes, it's a sandbox game where that's the whole point, but after getting through the End all you can do is build bigger buildings. When I play sandbox games, I like doing things that have some kind of function. I liked making a railway between my Nether portal and my house because its exit appeared in a different spot than the entrance. I liked building a fully automated zombie farm. But both of those things have purpose. My house ended up being a compact block of wood because making it pretty didn't seem necessary. I'm not saying that I did nothing to make it pretty, but making a house with the sole purpose of looking good seemed utterly pointless. That's why I like KSP. It also technically has no goal (arguably less than Minecraft, even), but it's easy to come up with your own goals, and achieving those goals often can become stepping stones to greater goals. Everything you build has a role in achieving that goal, and there's plenty to do in the process of achieving that goal. Want to go to the Mun? You'll have to figure out how, first, and then actually build a rocket capable of doing it. And it feels so rewarding when you actually achieve those goals. So, yeah. KSP for the win, here.
  13. Why did you shelve the voxel terrain? I was looking forward to seeing it.
  14. Blender is a great program for 3d modeling and animation. It's a bit overwhelming at first, but you get the hang of it. GIMP is good for texturing and such. Something like a simple nose cone should take about 5 minutes, if you know what you're doing. Longer, if you want to get fancy and do some texturing and normal maps.
  15. (screenshot of my desktop) ... Why do I have a screenshot? I don't remember making this.
  16. RAM usage really has more to do with how many parts (i.e. mods) you have loaded into the game. Adding debris and ships to the game will increase RAM usage, but not nearly as much as adding more part mods.
  17. I know that there will be some kind of "planetary formation" for the player to figure out, but how deep will it go? Will each planet have some kind of limited formation simulation, or will they be more random than that?

  19. 7/10 Short, to the point, and good job
  20. Yeah, but I don't think that many people know about it. The engine doesn't usually get hot enough to do that.
  21. This thread has over a hundred thousand views. If I remember correctly, the forum only counts new views when a totally new person clicks on the thread. So, even if only half of those people ever read it, you have more readers than many professional authors. Congratulations, man. (Seriously, have you written any novels? If you haven't, you should.)
