It can also turn in place when immobile and unbraked, W+A being used for the left and S+D for the right. Driving is done by throttling the Wheesley, and reverse gear is the thrust reverser. AG: 1) Fire weapon 2) Next weapon 3) Toggle thrust reverse Actually a MiG-29 airframe design. I also got a Su-27 airframe series, but it's much bigger.
  2. Didn't think about that one. Just that RCS requires at least 5 parts (Nozzle for each movement axis + fuel tanks) while SAS requires only one module.
  3. Remove oxidizer tanks, since you're using nukes. If you have RCS, remove it and replace with SAS. Remove the unneeded wing plates and canards, maybe rebuild the cockpit part to be simpler, like using a Mk2 cockpit instead of the complex armor. Use 2x2 plates whenever possible, for example in the bow. Maybe add engine armor? Also wings make weak armor at 15 m/s impact tolerance, so you could replace them with 2x2s.
  4. Finished my X-27 too! It has a slightly higher top speed at Mach 3, but otherwise it's very similar in size and performance to the real thing. The elevators even have the same 25 degree deviation. Actual plane for reference, a pose which I replicated. Also, for @NorthAmericanAviation or @Servo, if you guys are writing the bio, I found a good ad by Lockheed on the X-27.   5. You see the Mk16 antenna? The shell usually hits between the first white and red bands. Practice is the best way to get it right, so cheat up the SH-125 into orbit and shoot at stuff. And you need to use the cockpit view (C) to aim
  6. Might I suggest the Avro Arrow in the build roster? Pretty good design for its time, and it was built by Canada in 1958, so not too far from the time and space concerned.
  7. Lockheed-Martin X-27 is mine! I'll build the actual X-27/CL-1600 airframe which was designed for high speed testing. I might go a bit alternate history and add stock missiles, but only if I can get the plane right.

  10. About that gear gun... I've kept doing some tests, and have gotten pretty good results on the Aegis. The ship mounting the weapon Shot penetration point Damage done As you can see, it pretty much neglects armor when it hits and wipes out a major part of the interior. The actual aiming and reloading process takes some time, but is quick to learn. Pros: Plenty of damage Can pen pretty much any armor Cons: Long aiming/reloading, vulnerable during reload Has to be aimed visually (targeting doesn't work since the projectile hits a little bit above the target when using SAS) So, in light of this, I'm asking @HatBat and @ScriptKitt3h if I should keep developing the weapon. My concerns are that it may be too much of a trouble to aim during an episode, and that it may cross the "OP line" mentioned in the submission post. Here's the craft if anyone wants to test it. Aiming is done by going into the cockpit and placing the target on the junction between the lowest white and red parts of the commutron. Firing is done by extending the gear and undocking the attached ammo.   11. I've been testing some new kind of weapon using the landing gear cannon trick. It propels a beam at about 300 m/s onto enemy ships, and has been able to shoot off armor pretty reliably, although I still have to find a way to damage the interior. It's currently a single shot weapon, and I'm working on building a ship around it with reloading rods. I'm not sure if the weapon could be considered a bug, since it uses suspension to get a projectile speed that's almost impossible to attain quickly with rockets. What do you guys think?

What do you think of this then? _____________________________________________________________________________________________ In the decades preceding the twin monopoly on Kethane established by HKA and GMI, several moderately powerful private and public commercial alliances controlled much of the ressource market and backed related conflicts all around the world. One of these were the Kalban states' industries, mainly relying on oil and metal exportation for sustainment. That was the only real "private" economic activity, and all other services were provided by public companies within the alliance. However, when Kethane was discovered, the Kalban states found themselves ill-prepared for they were one of the rare non space-faring countries. As the price of fuel fell down, economical unrest also fell on the country. Despite urgent projects for space exploration and investing in its defense industry, the breaking of the states was inevitable, and thus began a decade long series of civil conflicts, starting when two of the states declared independence and decided to fight for it when it was refused. In the end, all six states split and formed their own republics. After the dust settled, several of the formerly state-owned companies found themselves short on clients and funds. The only possible choice for survival was a massive merger of all of those working in a similar sector. Thus, in the transport and defense industry, all former military and civil contractors merged their development and production facilities, the largest contributors being M&C Aviation, a civilian aerospace manufacturer, Kalban Logistics, a major ground contractor for the former Kalban army and Aimbot Labs, an aerospace defense contractor. Thus the acronym name "MDL", MCA Defense and Logistics was chosen. With fewer and fewer civilian offers and a massive call for armament by all sides of the conflict, MDL ended production of most airliners, cars and the like and focused on either converting peace time vehicles into logistics one or developing new weapons. Because of the lack of space experience, production has been limited to atmospheric assets, although there are plans to continue the research initiated by the Kalban government. As of now, MDL stands with HKA as it believes that the monopoly it will establish will bring economic stability and prevent another crisis.   13. Question for @HatBat too, is it okay if I write stuff on pre-HKA history? Stuff as several smaller private or state companies controlling the kethane and other ressource market before HKA and GMI gained a dual "monopoly" over it. Or was kethane only exploited when HKA discovered it?
  14. Ah, did about the same thing but opposite with the Helt1 It was supposed to be some MAN KAT1, but I couldn't keep it at six wheels for the required roles, so stretched it to 12 wheels.

  17. Your savegame is invalid since the crafts use a B9 part (Listed as B9.Structure.P2.surface). I'll upload my revised version in the meanwhile, until you can provide us with a save complying with the mod rules.

Done, used the whole 3 craft (2 F-12s and a AV-1) and added 2 HARM on each F-12 but still worked out fine F-12: 8 x HARM, 2 x Vulcan AV-1: 8 x Hellfire, 2 x Hydra-70, 1 x M230 Also realized with my AV-1 that you could just spam Hydras to win. I'll make a rule stating that a Hydra/SKOM pod counts as two weapons to prevent this.
  19. I've downloaded it when 1.2 came out, but never updated it since. Just realized recently there was a new version for 2.2. Even then, the plane seems to dodge missiles easily even at close range.

  21. Oops, wrong defense system. I created some of my own craft for it, but it seems like the persistent is still the same as the old one. I'll give it to you though since it's my fault. So, @jrodriguez becomes the first king of KSC and has until May the 4th to submit his defense system! Here's my take on it if you're interested I'll probably take on yours and then upload the true version of my system. Good job on finding out the radar weakness on that one. OP updated, good luck for your base!
  22. Yep, as long as you respect all the rules. It'll be much harder than with BDA though, and BDA is required for every one. You don't need to use any parts from it, but the defense modules use BDA weapons.
