  1. IIRC the moon wasn't brown, but all l'm certain about is that it had an atmosphere that cut off at around 2-5km from sea level. It was a really thin atmosphere. The planet, on the other hand, was mostly brown. Interesting. I prefer 1x planets, so I'll likely take GPP, but JNSQ is interesting too even if it isn't quite a traditional kerbolar replacement.
  2. Oh for the love of... I'm so sorry! I thought I scrolled all of the way down! I must've not done that. Thank you so much for moving it for me.
  3. I don't think this is the right section but I couldn't find a more appropriate section. Sorry moderators. Anyhow, pretty simple, all I'm looking for are planet mod packs that completely replace the Kerbolar system. It could be for any version. Current list of conversion mods in this thread: JNSQ (1.12.1, 2.5x and 1x, augment of Kerbolar system) KRSS (1.12.1?, 2.5x, total replacement) Galileo's Planet Pack (1.12.1, 2.5x and 1x, total replacement) Grannus Expansion Pack (1.12.2, 10x? 2.5x? and 1x?, total replacement or augment of Galileo's Planet Pack) Beyond Home (1.10.x, 1x, total replacement) Whirligig World(1.12.x, ?x, total replacement) I'm not entirely sure about Beyond Home's scale. I'm not sure if the rescaler means that GEP is by default 1x, or if it's rescaling 2.5x by 2.5(meaning it's actually 6.25x.) I'm not sure scale can even be applied to Whirligig World. The entire point of that planetpack is that it's INSANELY different to anything. JNSQ is a lot like Snarkiverse, however the main reason why JNSQ is here and Snarkiverse isn't is because JNSQ redoes all of the planets on top of reshuffling the planet order, while Snarkiverse only reshuffles the planet order. There is one in particular I have in mind, it was an obscure one that had a brown planet you started on, and a moon with an incredibly thin atmosphere, but I couldn't find it. If anyone knows which one that is, that one's on the top of my list to see again. All other suggestions are welcome. Below is a picture of the starting planet. UPDATE:It is Beyond Home! Thank you so much jimmymcgoochie!
  4. [snip] That's the beauty of classical online games, if you don't like that person, just go find a different person to play with. [snip]
  5. The achievement name really should be "No Time for Caution", given what that is even referencing. Also, "Interstellar music" is 100% grammatically correct, although it's clunky.
  6. It's literally 8:22 here in Washington. Give them a break, their shifts probably haven't even started yet.
  7. Only in the modern era. They're a relic of when distinctly different architectures actually existed(Z80 vs 6502 vs 2A03 which was a variant of the 6502 but hush, or SH2 vs RISC-V vs MIPS, or the Wii technically PowerPC VS PowerPC vs Cell, and this isn't even going into the WILD history of graphical architectures that every console had.) And even then, there's the problem of the frameworks these companies hand out being distinctly different.
  8. So many people were talking about not understanding the reason for this being a platform exclusive. Although I don't support it, I will justify it. Media Molecule is only allowed to produce games for the Sony Playstation, and Sony has been keen on keeping LBP on their platform, even if it's only a shell of its former self. They would never tolerate putting ANYTHING related to LBP on any other platform other than their own. We already saw how much they disliked cross platform multiplayer on their own system(Fortnite, Minecraft,) to put the PS3's mascot onto anything else would be effectively sacrilege to them.
  9. Not to be rude, but pretty sure it's intentional. I don't think your ship's OCD will like being painted unequal shades of hot pink and red.
  10. So, assuming things continue to go like this, we're looking at anywhere between April 1st to December 31st. I'm hoping it's some time in April, but there's been no announcement yet, so it's likely going to be closer to November, from my personal experience.
  11. I'm pretty sure the specs you listed are the absolute bare minimum to run the RAM guzzler that is Windows 10. Honestly, we should just start developing games for Windows XP/Vista again, that way we can actually reasonably use the RAM in our computers instead of having to worry about this issue. The amount of people saying "10 year old hardware won't work", it should be a semi-reasonable expectation that a decade old hardware would work on the absolute minimum settings. Then again, maybe growing up in the era where games were actively developed for such hardware has tainted my perception.
  12. I keep wanting to mention, revive or remake my original stock replays thread but I don't like taking over people's threads, necrobumping, or spamming the same thing over and over again, so thank you for mentioning replays. (If you're curious, it's on the second to last page if you sort by date, or on page 9 if you sort normally.)
  13. Please, for the love of god, procedural structural parts, if only to produce rovers. Also, don't mimic KSP1 rover wheels, they're way too slippery by default.
  14. So, No Man's Sky was brought up, and now I have to point out, that is 2016 No Man's Sky. The developers, who had taken on an incredibly ambitious project, and realized they screwed up upon realize, went back and fixed things over the years. Just for comparison, here's a few examples of No Man's Sky's new creature generator. Source article Source article Besides, as stated before, if this does get implemented, this would definitely mean they'd stray away from randomly generated creators, or if they do go to RGC creatures, they would be INCREDIBLY controlled, so no need to worry about early No Man's Sky levels of buffoonery. (Although you may need to worry about that IF someone makes a mod to implement randomly generated content creatures to KSP2.)
  15. I feel like they won't, but if they do, I hope they go all in. Either leave it to external programs exclusively, or have it entirely handled by the game. I've grown weary of offloading key functions of the games off to online servers that aren't yours, and aren't apart of the developer's company directly. I believe everyone should, but maybe I'm just biased, after all, Gamespy's shutdown killed the Wii's online, DS' online, and my favorite games of that era. For those of you who don't believe me about Gamespy being responsible for the shut down of Nintendo WFC, I believe it to be incredibly improbable to be a coincidence that the Wii and DS online functionality shut down 11 days(May 20th, 2014) before Gamespy went down for good on May 31st, 2014.
  16. I don't even CARE whatever the hell it is, blockchains are genuinely impossible to optimize, simply because you'd have to decrypt the WHOLE thing every time you wanted to use it. KSP2 having them would mean they would have to be used exceedingly sparingly, or just not used at all if they wanted to achieve higher framerates and less resource load than KSP1. Besides, what even would be the use? I'm someone who thinks NFTs could have a reasonable use for a few situations, and even I think you couldn't find something useful for this technology, in terms of KSP2.
  17. I'm pretty sure it had dynamic loading, but only for the planerts. It most certainly did not for the textures of your vessels, exemplified perfectly by the fact that no matter what you did, KSP would occasionally screw up and seriously blur textures no matter you texture setting(this was during I believe 1.2.)
  18. Why does everyone love the idea of streaming something in? I know I live in first world America, but a 1 terabyte drive is only 32 bucks. Storage generally should not be a concern at all. I mean, we're not working with the Sega Master System here. Arguably, streaming would consume MORE resources trying to keep track of which planets need to get loaded, and uncompressing everything, because streaming such content means you'd definitely need hefty compression to make sure that you don't kill someone's ADSL. Oh, speaking of which, streaming resources in would definitely only work in smaller countries, because large countries like the United States of America, Canada, Australia and to an extent Germany/France don't have fast internet nationwide due to just how vast the country is.
  19. I have something a bit vulgar. I can't say it, so I'll just let Captain Scout do it. (It's fine, my brother has plans for one where it's titled "come suck my juicy"... you get the idea.)
  20. I have something very important to suggest:Procedural structural parts. Why? Because making rovers specifically is a pain. Yeah, we have the nice rovemat thing, but that only works for smaller rovers. You'll need to somehow cobble a rover together if you want a bigger one, and that can be obscenely difficult. Having procedural structural parts would make such a task far easier.
  21. I'll take space travel for 200. What were the first two artificial satellites?
  22. Alright, reviving this thread since it's that time of month again. I'm interested in seeing a capsule being shown off, preferably with an IVA!
  23. I'm just going to post my definition of skeuomorphism and move on. Skeuomorphism can still use abstract icons, things like "pencils", although often paired with skeuomorphism for extra readability, aren't actually what skeuomorphism is about. The best way I can describe skeuomorphism is this: What button stands out more? A button that is a solid colored rectangle with some text, or a button that is still a rectangle with text, but appears to extend outwards with its border? The solid colored rectangle can get lost rather easily, especially if it is a similar color to its surroundings(a problem with transparent backgrounds.) However, a button that appears to "pop out" by either looking recessed away or jutting out at you will generally not get lost in the clutter, even if it is the same general color as everything else. A more practical example of this(my original example was an emergency stop button) is the Windows 95 start icon VS the Windows 10 start icon. If you did not know EXACTLY what that button looked like from the start, I'm betting you that you'd struggle to find the start menu on Windows 10. Likewise, if an instrument panel looks like it's flat and transparent, it may blend right into space(especially since their color scheme is mainly black for the border for some reason,) compared to something that has a pushed out look that kind of looks like a physical panel. This is why, despite having all of these nice electronic displays, most planes actually have a physical set of instruments and buttons, including a navball. That and also the electronic displays can fail while you're still in control of the aircraft. I never meant anything about the symbols, the symbols can remain as abstract as you want, provided that you can accurately describe them and they represent what you expect at all times. What you described I personally do not think is skeuomorphism. I don't know what it's actually called, although I do know that it is often paired with skeuomorphism to enhance readability. 1:Yes, that's actually KSP. The guy on the 4chan thread has some super crazy screenshots and some video, which were apparently done in KSP1 with a bunch of mods. I don't know any of the visual mods if he used them, but I recognize RasterPropMonitor and Scansat. 2:I'm betting IVA's are confirmed, since they did confirm that the windows would have permanent transparency, instead of the whole opaque/transparent toggle that KSP1 has.
  24. You know what? I really want them to show off IVAs now. At least one of them. Any one. I want to see if you can do an instruments only flight with KSP2. Someone on 4chan hyped me up for this. I wanna know if we'll get JSI styled IVAs.
  25. It feels as if though my points were totally overlooked. In any case, when I first left the house earlier, I was planning scathing comments, and explaining how just because you study UI/UX does not mean your points are instantly valid, but I have since calmed down. I'm going to agree to disagree, and move on, because frankly, this is a stupid argument to take, and our definitions of skeuomorphism appear to be divergent, making any meaningful conversation exceedingly difficult.
