  1. I have just completed the Ultimate Challenge. Please find the Imgur album here. I used visual mods (e.g. Scatterer) and informative mods (e.g. Transfer Window Planner) but all the parts are Stock / DLC and all the piloting was done by me. KerbalX links to the two craft are below. https://kerbalx.com/fulgur/Carboxylic-Acid https://kerbalx.com/fulgur/Alcohol Val to landed on every solid surface in the Kerbol system. Jeb, Bill and Bob tagged along for everywhere except Eve. Landings shown below:
  2. A capture assist will get you into an elliptical and/or inclined orbit of Jool. If you're lucky, you can make a radial/normal burn to get to Pol with a few hundred meters per second. If you're not so lucky you can adjust future encounters to reduce your inclination and get your orbit just crossing Pol, at which point it's just a matter of time until you get a close encounter. If you were to leave from Minmus orbit (image shows a trip to Eve, but the same principle applies) rather than LKO (refuelling at Minmus), you could then decrease the dV to Jool by a few hundred as well. That might help depending on how tight your margins are.
  3. Hi Gary All the "Build a Station" contracts are slightly different and randomly generated. In order to help you, we'll need pictures of the station and contract. Could you please - press F1 to take a screenshot (Sometimes Fn+F1) go into the screenshots folder, e.g. C:\\Kerbal Space Program\Screenshots find the screenshot and upload it to The Internets (e.g. Imgur) copy-paste the image link into the KSP forums (it should end in .png, .jpg etc) Thank you very much.
  4. Could you please - press F1 go into KSP/Screenshots find the screenshot and upload it to The Internets (e.g. Imgur) copy-paste the image link into the KSP forums (it should end in .png) Thank you very much.
  5. Here are some screenshots of Jounce's craft which I downloaded from KerbalX. Jounce's first craft, which he says does not fly. Jounce's second craft. Your CoM and CoL are very close together. This makes your craft very manoeuvrable BUT it also makes it likely to flip over. If you put some more "Big-S Elevons" at the back of your wings it would make it a slightly more stable craft, or you could remove the canards or add more mass to the front. You have a very large amount of wing area there. You do not need all those wings. Even with autostrut, having a long series of radially attached fuel tanks is probably going to be unstable. Notice the big drag vectors from all your surface mounted stuff. Put it in a service bay or three.
  6. Awesome mission! Eve descent is the one thing I hate the most in KSP - my singular Eve Ascent Vehicle had a nailbiting landing, especially since I did it about 3 times (I have clouds installed so I kept hitting the sea). If you know when a transfer window is, it's surprisingly easy to get an efficient transfer, just by playing with the nodes. I use the Transfer Window Planner mod (and Kerbal Alarm Clock) but you can also use https://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ in your browser.
  7. Centre of Lift and Centre of Mass. Refer to this wonderful tutorial; it taught me 90% of what I know about KSP aircraft. It should still work for KSP2 because the aerodynamics haven't changed much, although the drag model (in KSP1 and 2) is now better.
  8. I suspect that what Kerbalsaurus means by that enigmatic emoji is that in the story he is telling Kerbalkind is advancing somewhat more slowly, cautiously and cheaply than it is able to in a normal career save. While I am sure Kerbalsaurus would love your munar station design, they will have an approximate timeline within the story for when the Beyond program makes its triumphant return to deep space operations. Even if your spacecraft could SSTO the Jool-5, it would not do so in this story because that is not the story being told. When, several chapters in the future, a Mun starion is built, I am sure that your design will be taken into consideration and Winter Owl corporation will play an important part in the station construction. (Jeb's Junkyard will not, because we make atmospheric craft.)
  9. That was not actually the advertisment! As a shuttle, rather than a SSTO, "Libra Orbit" is not meant to land with the jet engines still attached. If Beyond were to develop larger landing gears than the ones Jeb's Junkyard have access to [use Medium instead of Small landing gear], this might allow an abort-to-runway anywhere up to the detachment of the jet engines. Also, for a simple orbital trip you can have as little as 70 units liquid fuel in each of the four jet tanks, although that reduces your margin for abort-to-runway. When you're doing your suborbital test make sure you're pointed in the general direction of land. She glides fairly well but the Terriers produce terrible thrust at sea level. What the warning was actually about was this: where the front nosecone, rated for only 2000K, explodes on a shallow re-entry; therefore a steeper re-entry, with Libra's large wings causing high drag, is the optimal entry profile.
  10. Jeb's Junkyard reluctantly but wholeheartedly admits defeat, at least temporarily, in the competition for making pretty, pretty explosions; not to our friendly competitiors Winter Owl, but surprisingly to the Beyond program itself. We congratulate the mission crew, especially Malgard Kerman, for their timely action in setting off the abort sequence and saving the lives of the crew on board. Jeb's Junkyard would like the general public to know that this disaster does not reduce our confidence in our own orbital shuttles any further, and that we look forwards to supplying the Kerman Station frequently and cost-effectively. We would also like to wish our competitors Winter Owl the best of luck with development of their "Mun Lander One" craft, in light of the grounding of other deep-space craft. -- Excellent update! I can't wait to read what happens next!
  11. @Mars-Bound Hokie You can right-click in the SPH and select something like "Deploy Direction Inverted" to change which way the flaps go. There are mods which allow you to select the exact angle of your wings, such as or you can do it by eye. Launched something really big.
  12. This is an excellent report! I like the slower and more methodical approach, building up infrastructure around Kerbin and the Mun (not something I do very often).
  13. If my craft are to be used by a parody of Boeing, does that mean they will actually fly? :-p Jeb's Junkyard is looking forwards to working with Winter Owl in a spirit of friendly competition, although we are of course confident that we will make pretty, pretty explosions at least 25% more often- oh, that's not what we're competing on? Jeb's Junkyard is of course confident that we will be firing useless, useless personal assistants at least 25% more often than Winter Owl.
  14. This is a great story! The pictures look very good with all your visual mods and I really enjoy the stories which take their time building up infrastructure in Kerbin's SOI. Are you still open for partner companies to develop competing orbital shuttles? Jeb's Junkyard believe their prospective shuttle has recently reduced its explosiveness on re-entry by as much as 60%!
  15. Usually, one rendez-vous'es by the following steps: Match planes with targets Fiddle the manoeuvre until you have an intercept [a pair of orange or purple arrowheads] within about 5km (you can usually get as close as 0.5km, but even 10km is workable). When you are approaching the target, reduce your velocity relative to the target to 0. Move in to dock. Setting your navball to the "target" display and pointing retrograde will allow you to reduce your velocity to zero relative to the target. If you are within a few km of the target you should now be floating motionless. You can then just point yourself at the target and move towards it. see also this thing & the illustrated guide to rendezvous linked with it.
  16. Testing an entirely original SSTO which is not at all based off any other intellectual property. Meet the "StormAvian" cargo SSTO.
  17. It's the Veil Nebula by JadeOfMaar. You can find it here: I also have Restock, Waterfall and the standard (high-res) clouds that are bundled with Galileo's Planet Pack.
  18. You can try any other image hosting or web hosting service, such as Flickr, although most people on the forums use Imgur. And you should ask the technical support forums about the game crashing when you go interplanetary.
  19. I finally built a station for an asteroid I captured a very long time ago. Pendragon Station + the Cives V SSTO bringing seven tourists to visit an asteroid. The large cupola is 3.75m across from SSPXr and there are also some Near Future Solar and Electrical, and USI Life Support parts on the station.
  20. Testing an aircraft carrier: with a science helicopter: These will explore Tellumo from Galileo's Planet Pack.
  21. I think my craft will probably reflect their missions, e.g. a green spaceship for Jool or a purple Eve Ascent Vehicle.
