  1. Thank you ajshell1. Merry Christmas to you, too.
  2. No pics of this epic failure?
  3. The third ship in my post in this thread is moon-capable and uses only parts from tiers 03.
  4. Hi Nick_7. Welcome to the game, and to the forum.
  5. Pronounced lag not just anywhere around Kerbin, but right at the pad and runway? A lot of us have been seeing that.
  6. A couple of mine have vanished, but most of them didn't. It seems to be a rare and random glitch.
  7. It's hard to say without pictures, but there are two suggestions I can give you. 1) Open the chutes sooner so that braking is more prolonged and gentle. 2) If you've got fuel left (which I think is what you're saying), burn the engines as the chutes are opening to take some of the deceleration load off of the chutes. Either way, burn off any remaining fuel to reduce weight.
  8. Since this is asking for rather than providing info, eased on over into gameplay questions.
  9. I flew this dorky-looking ship to Minmus, landed it in four places, and came back with 1389 science. (The recovery total doesn't include some transmissions.)
  10. Right now, links are the only way to put pics in posts. My preferred method is to upload them to an Imgur account (it's free) and use their BBCode link. There are other services, but Imgur is pretty easy to use.
  11. I rarely building anything that doesn't use a few of these infinitely useful little jobbers: (That's the small hardpoint, in case anybody doesn't recognize it.)
  12. I think it's not so much the speed as the altitude. Although you can get it to display a reading very high up, it doesn't collect meaningful science until you get into the second color-band on the atmosphere gauge. (Or somewhere around there.)
  13. It's a bug that comes up every now and then, and not just with mods. I had a lander on Duna whose coordinates (hovering with the mouse in map view) were something like so-and-so north and 500 degrees west.
  14. Set their deployment altitudes in sets so that they don't all open at once, distributing the shock. It's similar to the function that drogues perform.
  15. The suggestions whole sub-forum seemed like a better place for this suggestion.
  16. Hello Mr. Kimball. Still looking for the one-armed man?
  17. The wiki has a list of all the "biomes," or separate places in which science can be collected: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Biomes. (Hmm, it seems to leave out "high above the sun" and "space near the sun.") Not every science instrument is useful in every biome, though. For example, the thermometer gathers no science unless you are near a world.
  18. Attach the science instruments to the plane with a decoupler, and kick them off *after* you've landed (so they don't disappear after getting more than 2.25kms from the plane).
  19. Pics of the ship would probably help. In the SPH, with the COM/COL markers showing.
  20. True, but please keep in mind that we're not all native English-speakers here, either. But yes, Hayhaa, a more detailed description of the issue you're having would be helpful.
  21. There are already several teachers using KSP in the classroom. You can email the creating company, Squad, about it at this address: [email protected], and there's a project just for this purpose, which can find here. Good luck with it. As for the issues you mention: the current version of career mode is preliminary, as the game is still under development, so its already planned to be revised. I haven't run into that ctrl-Z problem myself, but you might try looking in the bug reports sub-forum for help. And there might be a mod you'd like to help with timing planetary flights. Welcome to the game, and the forum.
  22. Hello. I also play stock-only. Don't be afraid to download the new version, though. You can copy the files of your ships and saves into the folders of the new version, and pick right up where you left off. (That's not the case for every update, but for most.)
  23. Since this is a how-to sort of a question, it has been moved to the gameplay questions sub-forum.
