  1. Keep doing these! Great to see all the creativity already coming out of KSP2! SM
  2. Reproduced: KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behaviour - Craft stays together on load Observed Behaviour - Wings fall off on load Steps to Replicate - Build spaceplane. Quick save/load Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) unknown A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. Edit - It was never getting to space anyway. SM
  3. If we can include moons of planets in this thread, then I'd like to see a ravioli shepherd like pan around a ringed system in KSP2. I think it would make for an interesting destination for landers and stations, especially with its position between rings. I'd also like to see smaller moons Phobos style, zipping around below the synchronous orbit radius of their planets, moons going backwards or orbiting the poles, moons on highly elliptical orbits (Nereid) etc. They'd make excellent places to RP bases etc. Saturn has 80 + moons and while you wouldn't go that high in KSP2 for obvious reasons, it'd be great to see more Jool like (or Saturn analogue) systems in the game. Creating more smaller moons around planets could potentially increase destination interest at a faster rate (due to the smaller size and presumably speed to create) than just dropping in lots of new planets. It would be great if a modder who creates planet systems could weigh on that logic. Seeing as this is a thread about planets though - PSR J1719–1483 B orbits a millisecond pulsar (in itself a terrifying and interesting destination). Its thought that this planet was actually a star at one point in its life a red giant, then a white dwarf, until the pulsar had stolen all of its hydrogen and helium and left a crystalised carbon "diamond" about 5 times the size of earth behind. The only issue I can see is (besides the obvious instant doom of travelling there), is that the gravity would be so obscene as to render the Eve return challenge entry level. Looks pretty though! SM
  4. Took me a bit of experimenting, so here's a couple of things you could try to get you going: 1) Use a manned capsule instead of a probe core on the rocket stage - Manned capsules seem to suffer this issue less from my testing. 2) "Control from here" on the final stage's controllable core/pod before launch - Means that when you decouple or stage, you don't need to switch to a different craft as you are already controlling the separated stage. 3) Build the rocket stage as the first part, then do 2). 4) Quick save just after separation, then quick load and try switching craft again - this workaround has worked numerous times for me. Let us know how you go, and good luck with your mission! SM
  5. Here's some inspiration for you! With the parts available in KSP2 its already possible to make a basic Starship. I'm almost 100% confident that at some point someone in the modding community will make replica parts, I don't think it's something that the development team will focus on. Welcome to the forum also SM
  6. Searched but couldn't find a similar enough logged bug. Please merge if you find one! KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behaviour - KSP2 loads to main KSC screen Observed Behaviour - KSP2 loads with active mission (along with Duna music etc.) as front screen, with menu options present. Clicking into these menu options works, but the mission is active in the background. Steps to Replicate - unknown Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) Re-load solved the issue. A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  7. Reproduced, but I don't know what triggered it. It's the first time its happened and I do have an active mission in orbit around Duna if that helps. KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Ocean and sky is present Observed Behavior - Ocean and sky is absent Steps to Replicate - unknown Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) Re-load or revert to launch solves this issue temporarily. A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  8. Other Worldly Connection (Version 0.1.0.0) Here's the full mission report for my second mission to Duna. It was completely bug free and after its recent success with a flyby mission, starts the Mullet Dyne rocket program on its mission proper of maintaining a permanent presence at Duna long into the future. Here's a postcard from what was a spectacularly visual feast of a mission: Image courtesty of C7 Aerospace Division - Why go up when you can crash equally well going sideways Another fun mission, and on to the next! SM
  9. Reproduced. Issue was solved by reloading and not decoupling the landed stage before liftoff: KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - orbit line shows up in map Observed Behavior - orbit line is absent Steps to Replicate - Launch landed craft from surface of Mun Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) Re-load and try again A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  10. Reproduced: KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Rocket stays together Observed Behavior - Dots appear, and radially attached part falls off of rocket. Steps to Replicate - Radially attach part to ST Micro 1, launch craft. Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) Do not radially attach to part A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  11. KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) none A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  12. Just experienced this on a mission to Mun. KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Ladder renders correctly Observed Behavior - Ladder is operable, but does not render correctly Steps to Replicate - Build any ship with ladder and it'll show up sooner or later. Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) Not required. A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  13. I decided to put everything I'd learned while pushing bugs to good use today and do something I couldn't actually do in my first day or two of playing - Land on and return from Mun. Using the right landing legs (to avoid fuel drain through decouplers) and using stack separators (to avoid decouplers draining fuel and exploding vessels), slow saving to avoid re-load bugs etc. I built a simple craft and muscle-memoried the brave crew to Mun. I only encountered three benign bugs which I have to log: 1) When planting a flag using stacked kerbals, the topmost kerbal plants the flag (rather than the selected kerbal) which then floats in space. 2) Stacking kerbals and planting a flag appears to stop jetpacks from working for all involved. 3) Ladder texture disappeared (but ladder still operable) apart from that it was a completely bug free mission start to finish. Awesome! Here's the full mission report. A couple of postcards from the journey: Seans Cannery rock cam snapped this image of the strange arch before becoming mushy and failing. The indispensable Zaltonic Electronics selfie camera doing a fine job of capturing the milk runs hi-jinks. Image courtesy of Probobobobododobobodyne Astro navigational aids. Had fun! SM
  14. Great work @DesertFox45LC and welcome to the forum! I've just landed and returned from Mun for the first time in KSP2 and our landers look roughly the same. Congratulations on saving all your Kerbals from the perils SM
  15. Have also experienced this bug: KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Ship progresses past 70km without issue. Observed Behavior - Ship spontaneously destroyed at 69,998m Steps to Replicate - SSTO with rapier and whiplash engines Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) unknown A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler.
  16. Today I designed around the bugs I was experiencing yesterday and managed to complete the 2nd weekly mission posted by Intercept Games. I don't think I've ever done an air launched solid rocket payload to Duna before! I had great fun and again was blown away by the Duna audio. The surface I also found was just miles beyond what stock KSP1 offered. Incredible game design! Chase plane operated by Goliath National Products, all rights reserved, maybe, what rights, its just a camera buddy. Selfie capture technology provided by Dinkelstein Kerman. Featuring the latest in "Behiiiind youuuu lenses". SM
  17. After a bit more testing yesterday and today I landed on a new design that utilised a Mk1 command pod instead of probe cores. For some reason they just seem to work better at the moment, and don't experience as many inter-stage bugs as probe cores. With this new design I was able to complete the mission. Here's the full mission report. I was once again blown away by the music, but this time the scenery from the surface as well (having only seen it from a flyby previously). KSP2 is capturing my imagination all over again in a way that KSP1 did in its early days. Here's a couple of teaser shots from the above full mission report: Chase plane operated by Goliath National Products, all rights reserved, maybe, what rights, its just a camera buddy. Selfie capture technology provided by Dinkelstein Kerman. Featuring the latest in "Behiiiind youuuu lenses". Had a great deal of fun doing this mission. I'm genuinely not sure if I've ever air launched a rocket to Duna before! Looking forward to next week's challenge! SM
  18. Spent a couple of hours trying to overcome bugs building air launch rockets. Logged a few and made some progress. Reckon I can get a small probe to the surface of Duna with this soon if I don't get distracted by taking screenshots. The pause function is super useful. SM
  19. I'm trying to work on this challenge as it's a really exciting one, but I haven't managed to find a workaround to the problem that dropped stages become uncontrollable in atmosphere. Any workarounds anyone know of? Edit - I'll leave the above post up as others may encounter the same issue, but I think what I did wrong was to take a previously vertically integrated ship and attach it to a new horizontally built plane in the VAB (which is possible in KSP1 through subassemblies) which may have resulted in this bug. This obviously should work, but it appears the workaround will be to just create the whole shebang at once. I've seen a few videos, so I know it's definitely possible to air launch a rocket in KSP2. I'll have another crack at it! Edit 2 - Building from scratch half worked in that I can now air launch the rocket (as long as I use control from here on the rocket at launch), This time I encountered the loss of SAS control bug on the second stage of the air launched rocket, as well as the no CommNet bug, so the rocket just spins without hope of recovery. Will keep trying as I think there's a work around to this one also. SM
  20. I believe this is the same bug, but can file a separate report if not. Observed the above beahviour in VAB when trying to join two craft together. Every time I try it flips the attaching part by 90 degrees and leaves the rest of the assembly in the correct orientation. KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - When joining two assemblies in VAB, assemblies should join as normal. Observed Behavior - closest attaching part rotates 90 degrees; assemblies do not attach. Steps to Replicate - Join a veritcally and a horizontally made craft in VAB in the same orientation Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) unknown A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  21. I experienced this bug when testing an air launch rocket. The air launch rocket was tested standalone on a mission to Duna and operated without issue. When dropped from a plane, the stage (rocket) became uncontrollable, and could not be switched to with the message "Observer can't leave active vessel". KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Rocket is staged and is either switchable to or becomes the primary controlled vessel. Observed Behavior - "Observer can't leave active vessel". Steps to Replicate - Aeroplane with air launch rocket stage attached via decoupler. Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) unknown A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  22. Experienced this bug on quick loading a quick save. KSP Version - 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version - Windows 11 CPU and GPU models - Intel core i5 12600KF / NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 3080 Description of the bug. Expected Behavior - Ship loads in with all parts attached Observed Behavior - Ship loads in with detached parts Steps to Replicate - Aeroplane with rocket attached via decoupler. Quick save, Quick load Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) unknown A list of ALL mods - None Other Notes: See image in spoiler. SM
  23. I'm having a really enjoyable time taking playstyle turns. When I want to push some bugs I build something more complicated and what I find I log. I accept that this is what I'm doing so it doesn't frustrate me. Then when I've had enough of pushing bugs, I do something like build a plane and check out the amazing scenery of Kerbin, or design a Duna flyby probe within the limitations of the bugs I now know about. From doing this I can tell how incredibly rewarding this game will become over time (and in a lot of areas already is), and I don't get burnout doing it. I'm very excited for when the bugs start to get knocked over. Sound epiphany OP! SM
  24. Today I took a break from space and flew to the north pole to see how gnarly the terrain was. Close to the pole it get's pretty untraversable, but on the way there there's plenty of beautiful landscapes to take in. I'm impressed with the attention to detail on Kerbin. I haven't explored too much yet but I'd like to see some higher peaks. Also went chasing clouds to see if I could find thunder clouds a la launch cinematic, but I suspect this could be a down the road or future mod thing unless anyone's seen any in game? This was the best I could do: Another day of fun in KSP, avoiding the going to space bugs this time SM
  25. Just happened again, although the destruction was at the exact moment the craft ran out of fuel and the rapiers turned off from rocket mode, otherwise same details as above. SM
